Bellatrix's accomplice

Chapter 18

Christmas break ended and we were back at Hogwarts. We decided it would be best to tell the girls that their father was killed in a similar way to my own parents. To save them the heartache of learning that their mother was a murderer.

I was sat in Herbology with Bella in a world of my own. I had been replaying the events of Christmas in my head over and over again. I couldn't shake the image of his dead body from my mind. He lay open-mouthed and his eyes were filled with shock, it brought back memories of my nightmares all those years ago.

My mind was brought back to class when there was a knock at the door. It was Professor McGonagall "Good afternoon Professor Beery. Could I borrow Miss Black and Miss Y/L/N" she spoke softly. He gestured for us to get up and leave with her so we did.

We grabbed our things and headed out the door, closely following behind her. We didn't dare ask why we were needed, we could sense something bad had happened. She told us to wait outside of Professor Dumbledore's office as she spoke the password.

The statue revealed some stairs and we followed her up. We went inside his office to find Narcissa and Andromeda had been waiting for us. "Take a seat girls" the headmaster spoke gently. We did as he said, placing Narcissa in between us.

"You're probably wondering why I have summoned all of you like this" he said. "Look Sir, cut the crap and tell us what's going on!" Bella snapped. I nudged her from the other side of Cissy. "Very well. Unfortunately... there has been a murder and I'm sorry to inform you that it was your mother who was the victim"

My heart shattered. I heard Bellatrix gasp and Cissy began to sob. I pulled her into a hug to help her feel safe. She had now lost her mother and father. "How?" Andromeda asked. "Really Andy? Are you serious!" Bella shouted. I was too numb to say anything.

"I am deeply sorry for your loss girls. Since Y/N and Bellatrix are over the age of sixteen, they shall become your guardians" I kissed the top of Narcissa's forehead and whispered in her ear "everything is going to be alright Cissy. I promise"

"I know that the circumstances are difficult for you all. But I can assure you, the culprit will be caught and tried by the ministry" Dumbledore spoke calmly. His words just entered my brain and left unprocessed

Event flashback- Druella's pov

I was woken by a loud bang in my room. I shot up to find my deceased husband's sister stood before me. "Walburga what are you doing here? Have you any idea what time it is?" I sat up confused.

Fury was written all over her face and she had a vice-like grip on her wand. "Is everything alright?" I questioned. She slowly walked towards my bed, "I can't believe what you have done" she snarled.

My heart began to pound. she must know about her brother, but how. I trusted the girls with this and I know they would never betray me. "You are going to pay for this Druella Rosier. You are not worthy of his name" I was hurt, even though he hurt me many times he was still my husband and I loved him... once.

"Crucio" she yelled. Searing pain shot through my body and I cried in agony. "That was from me and my family. Now, this is from Cygnus" she screamed. The next thing I knew, my room flashed green and then it went dark...

We piled out of the headmaster's office. I was still holding Narcissa tightly and I stroked Bella's arm. I watched as Andromeda slumped against a wall and say "this is all my fault". My eyes widened, "how could it be your fault when you were here with us?" I questioned irritability.

She turned to look at us all, tears rolled down her pale cheeks. "I saw what happened to our father. And I told Aunt Walburga" I let go of Narcissa and grabbed Andromeda by the neck. "YOU DID WHAT?" I yelled. She was in hysterics and apologising as I put pressure around her neck.

"I'm sorry, please. I'm so so sorry" Bellatrix walked over and pulled me off her before slapping her across the face. "We will never forgive you for this Andromeda. You had our mother killed. And for what reason?" Bella yelled.

She was physically shaking now. "I had to tell someone what I saw, I could hardly come to you two, not that you weren't aware of what had happened anyway! You helped cover up the death of our father" she cried through floods of tears.

I looked over at Narcissa who was stood in shock, staring at the three of us. I tried to grab her hands but she ran off. Shouting after her was no use. "She'll come round soon, don't worry. As for you, get out of my sight before I do something I will regret"

Andromeda slowly backed away from us and ran in the opposite direction to where Cissy went. I pulled Bella into a hug and she cried into my shoulder. "She's gone. She is really gone" I stroked her hair and let out a little sob. I felt numb, almost like what I had just heard was fiction.

I cupped Bella's face in my hands and wiped her tears away with my thumbs. "Everything is going to be alright. We need to be strong for Narcissa, we will get through this as long as we have each other" I kissed her softly, but only a quick one in case we were seen.

Once again, I was orphaned.
