Bellatrix's accomplice

Chapter 9

!!TW!!- not eating/ loss of loved ones

I woke to an empty dorm, which confused me. I had no idea of the time.

I heard the door open so I whipped my head round to it so that I could see who it was. "Oh, good Y/N you're up!" Bella said smiling as she sat down next to me. She handed me a muffin which I ate promptly. "You need to get up and dressed, otherwise we are going to be late for transfiguration. You've already missed breakfast" she said giggling as I clambered out of bed to get dressed.

"Bella, what happened last night?" she laughed a little, "you passed out after you stood up too quickly. I think it's because you barely ate yesterday". "Well that explains it then" I shouted from the bathroom.

Soon enough I was dressed and we made our way to the transfiguration classroom on the other side of the castle. We were only five minutes late so hopefully, we won't get detention.

When we went in, there was a cat sat on the desk. "Thank merlin she isn't here yet" I said but as I finished my sentence, Minerva McGonagall transformed back into a human and harshly spoke "not so fast. Where have you been? You're late!"

We were bewildered by the fact that she just transformed from a cat to a human. "Well, aren't you going to answer me?" I suddenly snapped back into reality and began to answer her. "I slept in professor, sorry" Her eyes hardened, "and you Miss Black?"

Bella was still confused so I answered for her. "She came to get me after breakfast professor" she gave a little nod before saying "detention for both of you tonight" I twisted my face and she noticed, "is there a problem Miss Y/L/N?"

"Yes. There is, why are you punishing Bellatrix when she has done nothing wrong. I wouldn't be here right now if it wasn't for her" She had no right to punish Bella, all she did was the right thing. I wasn't going to stand for this.

"I suggest you sit down and be quiet unless you want detention for the whole week" she snarled. I did as she said but that didn't mean I wasn't angry. We found our seats which coincidentally were next to each other and pulled out our parchments and ink.

"Thanks for my breakfast this morning Bella" I whispered. "It's no problem, you need to remember to eat Y/N" I nodded my head and opened my mouth to say something else but was interrupted by a book being slammed on the desk.

"Girls, do you need to be separated too?" I scoffed which angered her further. "Miss Black, swap seats with Mr Longbottom" I grabbed Bella's arm so she could not move. "No!" I yelled. "Excuse me!" McGonagall yelled back, surprised at my attitude. "She isn't swapping with, him" I spat in disgust.

"I have had it with you. Come with me" I was forced to stand up and leave the classroom with her. "class I shall not be long, take notes from your book while I deal with Miss Y/L/N"

She led me out into the corridor and up some stairs. She didn't speak to me the whole time. We halted outside a large statue "sherbet lemon" she spoke and the statue revealed some stairs.

We ascended them and I found myself in the headmaster's office. "Evening Minerva, what can I help you with?" She shoved me into the room and replied, "this first year is giving me attitude in her first lesson so I decided to bring her to you. She needs to understand that behaving this way is unacceptable"

He nodded his head and smiled at me. "what exactly has happened Miss Y/L/N?" he asked. I shot Minerva a mean look and replied to the headmaster. "She tried to give me and Bellatrix detention" He chuckled at my statement, "and why is that?"

"Well I am happy to take the detention as I was late but it isn't fair that Bellatrix is getting one too" I spat. "Miss Black was also late headmaster, I had no other option". I yelled at her, "of course you did, I told you the reason she was late. Besides, I didn't even tell you the truth of why I was late because I shouldn't have to explain myself to you!"

"Now now Miss Y/L/N, there is no need to yell," Dumbledore said calmly as McGonagall stared at me open-mouthed at my cheek. "Care to enlighten me on the truth then?" I nodded.

"I fainted last night because I haven't been eating very much lately. I woke late because I was exhausted and Bellatrix came straight from breakfast risking being late so that she could give me some food and make sure I was up and alright!" I said as I folded my arms over my chest, waiting for her reply.

"Why haven't you been eating?" they now looked concerned. "Uh, well. I don't know" I said shyly, shrugging my shoulders.

I felt her hand touch my shoulder "you can trust us Y/N, I am sorry for overreacting earlier. I will let Bellatrix off but you still have detention tonight, after dinner. Now can you please tell us why you haven't been eating?"

"Well, I have been extremely nervous about starting school. Everyone knows about my parents and I have received abuse in the streets from strangers. I just feel sick all of the time, so I don't eat. I just want to make them proud" I sobbed, looking at my feet.

"Oh Y/N. You are making them proud, every day" Minerva said. I looked up at her and wiped my tears. "Thank you" I smiled back wearily.

"You may go now Miss Y/L/N" Dumbledore smiled, I thanked them and exited the room.

What they didn't know was that I smirked on my way out, knowing that I just got Bella and myself out of detention.
