(Third person pov)
"Do we know if she had any family?", Tony asked.
They were all outside at the edge near the lake, trying to process the loss of Nat.
Sage had been concerningly silent as she started out at the lake as it glistened and simmered in the sunlight.
She was drowning out everything everyone was saying. It was like their voices were muffled and they were far away in the background.
Sage had gone back to her own head.
Her Happy Place.
Sage's Utopia, as Nova used to say when they were younger and Sage was zoned out, too busy and caught up in her own infinite train of happy childish thoughts.
"Yeah", said Steve. "Us."
"What?", Thor asked.
"Huh?", said Tony.
"What are you doing?"
"Just asked him a question"
"Yeah, no, you're acting like you're dead", said Thor. "We have the stones, right? As long as we have the stones...Cap, we can bring her back. Isn't that right? So stop that shit. We're the Avengers. Get it together!"
"Can't get her back", said Clint.
"What's he- wha-", Thor stuttered.
"It can't be undone", said Clint. "It can't."
"Look, I'm sorry, no offense, but you're a very earthly being, okay?", Thor laughed. "And we're talking about space magic. And 'can't' seems very definite, don't you think?"
"Yeah, look, I know I'm way outside my pay grade here"said Clint. "But she still isn't here, is she?"
"No, that's not my point", said Thor.
"It can't be undone", Clint teared up. "Or at least that what the red floating guy had to say. Maybe you wanna go talk to him, okay? Go grab your hammer and you go fly and talk to him!"
There was silence except from Steve crying.
"It was supposed to be me", said Clint. "She sacrificed her life for that god damn stone. She bet her life on it."
Bruce got angry and threw one of the tables into the lake making Sage jump and snap out of trance.
"She's not coming back", he said. "We have to make it worth it. We have to."
"We will", said Steve.
"What?", Sage asked suddenly.
She sounded almost confused, and her voice was higher and softer than usual.
She looked around at everyone like a curious kid before frowning.
"Where's Nat?", she asked worriedly.
Sage's eyes were filled with tears of confusion and she started shaking as she looked around worriedly with no Nat in sight and started to panic.
"Sage", Tony whispered, his eyes watering.
Nearly everyone there knew what was happening again, others looked confused on what was happened.
Like how she went from a responsible adult to a five year old.
"Sage, honey, sweetie, clam down", Tony told her gently as he put his hands on her shoulders as her breathing quickened. "Kid, just look at me, Sage-"
"No, no, no, no, no, no", Sage kept repeating as she shook her head. "Nat's fine, she's fine, she's fine-"
