Gym Class

(Third person pov)

"Hi I'm Captain America."

Nova almost burst out laughing.

Here she was with Peter, Ned, and their whole year sitting in the gymnasium watching Steve on the TV in his suit. Even though he's on the run, they still have to do his exercise program.

"Do you both know him, too?", she heard Ned whisper to her and Peter.

"Yeah, we met, I stole his shield", Peter smiled at the thought, remembering that cool moment.

"Nova?", Ned whispered.

"Yeah, I even got him to watch finding Nemo", she told them.

Before either the shocked Ned or Peter could say something, the small TV spoke again.

"Today, my good friend, your gym teacher, will be conducting the Captain America fitness challenge."

"Thank you, Captain", the gym teacher said, as the video ended. "I'm pretty sure this guy is a war criminal now but whatever, I have to show these videos, it's required by the state, let's do it."

After tiring minutes of doing some of the fitness challenge, and Nova pretending to go to the bathroom to get a break.

So now here she was lying on the ground next to Peter doing sit ups on her own while Peter had Neds help.

"What does Hulk smell like?", Ned asked, thinking for a second, "I bet he smells nice."

Nova snorted at that. She can confirm Hulk smells anything but nice.

"Shut up", was all Peter said, still going.

"Is Captain America cool? Or like a mean old grandpa?", Ned then asked.

Nova giggled a bit, thinking how much of an old person Steve is even when Thor who is much older than him, is more like a young person.

"Ned, just shut up, okay!", Peter said.

"How about Sage? She looks pretty, I bet her hair smells nice", Ned said with stars in his eyes.

This made Nova cringe for a second just thinking about it, she would much prefer have Sage with Pietro then with Ned.

"Ned, she has a boyfriend, and please just stop", said Peter.

"Darn it", Ned mumbled.

"Can we just not talk about Sage", Nova snapped slightly, making Peter look at her.

"Please?", she added, sighing softly.

Peter nodded with a small smile at Nova, a sympathetic smile. She hated those the most.

There was a short pause of silence before Ned looked up with glee.

"Can I be your guy in the chair?", he asked.

"What?", both Peter and Nova asked.

"You know how there's a guy with the headset telling the other guy or girl where to go?", Ned told them, but the both looked confused still. "Like-like if your stuck in a place, I could tell you where to go-"

"Ned, I don't need a guy in the chair", Peter said, Nova nodding with that.

"Looking good, Parker", the coach said, making Peter go red and go slower and Nova snicker at him.

Nova was opening her mouth to come up with a witty reply to Peter's red face, but was cut off as Liz and her friends were speaking loudly

"Well, what about the spider guy?", a friend asked.

"It's spider man", Liz corrected, "Did you guys see that security camera video on YouTube? He fought off four guys!"

"Oh my gosh, she's crushing on Spider-Man", one of her friends squealed, Nova thought she sounded more like a pig, hurting her enhanced ears.

"I don't know, maybe", Liz shrugged.

"Gross", another friend said. "You don't even know what he looks like, he's probably thirty."

This made Nova look over at Peter and take in his appearance, coming to the conclusion that he's hot.

"I wouldn't care, I would still love him for the person he is on the inside", Liz told them.

Nova then noticed Peter was looking over at Liz with a glimmer in his eyes full of hope and even though she wouldn't admit it, but it kind of hurt. She had never experienced or felt this pang in her heart, like a part of it shattered off.

"Peter knows Spider man!", Ned yelled out suddenly, the whole gym going quiet and Peter and Nova to snap their heads to him.

"Uh, no I don't- I mean", Peter stuttered the answer, not even noticing Nova wack Ned across the head.

"They're friends!", Ned yelled out again, letting out another 'ow' from Nova hitting him.

"Yeah, like Coach Wilson and Captain America are friends", Flash laughed.

"I've met him", Peter agreed, ignoring Novas look of anger. "Yeah, a couple of times but it's, uhm, through the Stark internship. Yeah, uhm, I'm not really meant to talk about it."

As Peter and Ned shared a look, Nova was nearly fuming, he was not supposed to tell anyone, what if they got caught, the one thing Tony told them 'don't let anyone find out' and even though Nova never listened to Tony, she agreed with him on this.

She didn't want her identity to be found out and have people question her about stuff like 'how is it being an avenger', 'is it cool to be an avenger', 'do you know where everyone is', and stuff like that.

Or worse, she definitely wasn't planning on going back to Hydra anytime soon and definitely not at the hands of Peter or his friend.

"Well, that's awesome", Flash said sarcastically. "Hey, you know what, maybe you should invite him to Liz's party."

"Yeah", Liz said awkwardly, she didn't sound like she wanted them at her house. "I'm having people over tonight, your more than welcome to come."

This made Nova roll her eyes, of course, as soon as they hear some cool superhero is 'friends' with a person they find 'unpopular' or a 'nerd', they now want them at the party.

Why weren't they invited earlier? The answer is so obvious, you don't even have to look to find it.

"Y-you're having a party?", Peter asked.

This confirmed Nova's suspicion of nobody wanting what they classified as 'losers' there.

"Yeah, it's gonna be dope, you should totally invite your personal friend Spider-Man", Flash taunted.

"I-I-", Peter stuttered.

"It's okay", Liz cut him off, slight relief yet annoyance in her voice. "I know Peter is way to busy for parties anyway."

"What a bitch", Nova whispered under her breath, only MJ heard and she snickered quietly.

"He'll be there!", Ned all but yelled out.

Just as Nova opened her mouth to say no about going, she turned her head quickly to face Ned with an angry look in her eye but he refused to move his gaze from Liz, who smiled.

"What are you doing?", Peter asked, turning to face Ned quickly.

"Helping you out!", Ned told him. "Did you not hear her, Liz has a crush on you."

Peters mouth dropped open in realization, making Nova roll her eyes to hide another little pang in her chest.

"You're an Avenger! If any one of us has a chance with a senior girl, it's you!", Ned exclaimed.

"Realistically speaking, he's not an Avenger", Nova said coldly.

And with that, she stood up from her position form doing sit ups and stormed to the girls locker rooms to get changed, MJ rushing after her.
