Goodbyes

(Third person pov)

Nova was sitting in a chair in the waiting room, her leg bouncing up and down nervously and Peter, who noticed, put his hand on her knee.

Nova, who had been biting her fingernails, looked up at him. Peter sent her a kind smile and Nova smiled back before turning away so Peter didn't see the heat rising to her cheeks for she found it weird and embarrassing.

Nova had never felt like this before and her first thought was to talk to Sage, but she couldn't for obvious reasons. And she couldnt talk to Wanda either.

Her only options were Tony, Vision or Nat.

Tony wouldn't know what to do and would probably stutter or tell her she's too young and irresponsible to have a love life, Vision would most likely give her a dictionary definition on what she was feeling, so that left Nat.

Nova felt someone staring at her so she turned back around and scanned her surroundings before she spotted Nat standing not too far away and looking at her.

"I'll be back in a few minutes", Nova told Peter, about to sneak off but Peter grabbed her arm.

"Where are you going?", he asked.

"No where", Nova said and Peter raised his eyebrow.

"Mr Stark told me to keep an eye on you and make sure you don't cause havoc or chaos", Peter told her.

"Fine", Nova sighed. "You really wanna know where I'm going?"

"Yes"

"I have to change my pad, I'm on my period", Nova lied. "My flow is really-"

Peter let go of Nova's arm and his eyes widened in alarm, his face going red from embarrassment.

"No, it's ok, you don't have to tell me", he said. "Just go, I'll be here when you get back."

Nova smiled and walked out as Peter sat back down and picked up a magazine to make it look like he was doing something.

Nova walked over to Nat who grabbed Nova's arm and dragged her into an empty hallway in the hospital.

"Thank god, I need to talk to you", said Nova.

"Is it about bug boy?", Nat smirked making Nova's face go red.

"No!", she protested and Nat raised her brow.

"Well- sort of", she admitted.

"I knew it!", Nat smiled.

"I just", Nova sighed, thinking of what to say. "I feel weird and different around him and I've never felt like this and I don't know what it means."

"It means that Nova's in looooooo-"

Nova slapped her hand over Nats mouth, looking around the corner to make sure Peter didn't hear.

That bastard better not be using his spider senses.

"He has super hearing", Nova hissed making Nat laugh. "Not that anyone in the country had to have super hearing to hear that."

"Alright, alright, I'm sorry", Nat grinned. "It's just that your all grown up now, I remember when I first met you."

"Yeah, me too", Nova chuckled fondly as she thought of happy memory.

"Clint was there", she blurted out making Nat look up at her. "I really miss him."

"He misses you too", Nat assured her.

"I never got to say goodbye", Nova's lip quivered.

"We were all a bit occupied with everything going on-"

"No, not after the battle", Nova shook her head. "Before he went home, to his family."

Nat's mouth made an 'O' shape as she nodded at Nova to continue.

"The last thing I ever said to him, we were arguing and I told him he wasn't my Dad and that he sould go back to his real family, which he did", Nova sobbed. "He tried to say goodbye but I ignored him when he came to my room to say goodbye and kept my back to him."

Nat gave Nova a sympathetic look and gave her a hug.

"And now Sage is gone with speedy gonzilla, that cocky bastard was actually starting to grow on me but I still hate that piece of shit", she bawled her eyes out.

Nat chuckled as she rubbed her hand on Nova's back.

"And now you're leaving too", Nova sobbed.

"What are you talking about?", Nat pulled away.

"I know you know that T'Challa told Ross about what you did", Nova hiccuped. "And now you're leaving me too."

"Oh no, no, no, no", Nat wiped away Nova's tears. "I'll never leave you."

"But you are", Nova sniffed. "Your the whole reason I signed, I knew once you did that I wasn't making a mistake."

"I'll always be with you, Nova, because I love you", Nat hugged Nova again.

"You and Steve were the best motherly figures ever", Nova sniffed. "And Fury."

"I'm honoured to be your mother", Nat's eyes started to water.

"I know you can't have kids of your own, but you'll always be my mom", Nova told her.

"Thank you", Nat scrunched her eyes shut as tears fell and she kissed the top of Nova's head.

"I love you too", Nova sobbed. "Please don't go, please don't leave."

"Hey, it's okay", Nat whispered.

"No it's not", Nova shook her head. "Please, please don't leave me like everyone else did, please Nat, please don't go, don't leave me."

"I'll never leave you"

"I don't know what I'll do if you go too, please don't leave me, you're my big sister and my mom, you're Nat, please don't leave me, please", Nova sobbed, her arms not letting go off Nat's torso.

Nat looked up as tears flooded her eyes while Nova pleaded her not to go.

She looked over and got Peter's attention, signalling for him to get Nova so she could leave.

Peter came over and pried a crying Nova off of Nat.

Nova made a couple of runs for Nat's retreating back but Peter wouldn't let her go. Eventually, Nova turned around and sobbed into Peter's chest and he ran his fingers through her hair and whispered in her ear.
