Joe heads straight for their bus, but he hears his son's laugh coming from the opposite direction.
He finds Amber sitting talking to Jon while Joey plays on the golf cart. She and Jon are both laughing at Joey as he pretends he's driving. "Hey babe. Hey Jon. Hey driver, you seen my kid around here anywhere?" Joey starts giggling. "I'm here Daddy."
"Oh gosh kid, I didn't recognize you. You're getting so big, you look like you're three not two." Joey giggles again. "Mommy says I'm almost three."
"That's right kid, in two weeks you'll be three. What do you want for your birthday this year?"
Jon laughs, "We were just talking about that Joe. The kid says he wants his very own golf cart. I tried to tell him he's not quite big enough for a golf cart yet, his feet don't even reach the pedals." Joey tries his best to get his feet onto the pedals while still sitting in the seat, but of course has no luck. He starts to get upset. Jon offers to take him for a ride, which cheers Joey up considerably.
Joe and Amber are left alone. Joe looks at Amber, but she keeps her head down. He can see she's upset. "You want to talk about it?"
Amber looks up at Joe. "Not really. I just feel terrible about how much my coming back messed up other peoples lives. I'm sorry Joseph. I know you well enough to know this is tearing you up. You'd never hurt anyone. And because of me you hurt Sam and ruined your friendship. It's all my fault. And I really am sorry."
Joe pulls Amber into his arms. "Oh no baby, that is not your fault. It's mine. I knew she had feelings for me when I started sleeping with her. I also knew I'd never have feelings for her. So in a way I did use her until you came back. I never should have gone to bed with her. Look Amber, she'll get over it. She'll be okay. Don't let her get to you."
"I wish I could believe that. Look let's not talk about it anymore. Talking about it won't change anything. Let's talk about something we can do something about, like Joey's birthday. I'd like to throw him a party. It'll be my first birthday with him. So I want to do something fun."
They make a plan for Joey's birthday and are pretty excited about what they come up with. Amber actually feels like they're a real family. Just your average husband and wife planning their son's birthday.
By the time Jon comes back with Joey it's time for him and Joe to start getting ready for tonight's show. "Make sure you watch the show tonight babe. You'll see why I've been working out so much and so hard." Joe kisses Amber before he takes Joey's spot on the golf cart.
Amber can't wait to see the show tonight. She's been looking forward to it so much. She's always loved seeing the guys perform. This time feels extra special though.
The show is amazing. And Amber loves her "seat" off to the side of the stage. She has a great view of the whole stage. Amber had been a part of the last tours she'd seen, so she knew what to expect. This time she's seeing everything for the first time tonight. She gets excited when Jordan comes out for a solo performance. It's amazing. But what happens next, blows her mind.
Her gorgeous husband comes out on stage in white jeans, a white jacket and nothing else. He struts out onto the stage singing "Sweet Dreams" and God does he look good. Then he breaks into "Twisted" and Amber can't take her eyes off of him. He strips off the jacket and begins humping the floor. But it's when he lays on his back and slowly thrusts his hips up that she feels heat pool at her core. Her face flushes and she has to fan herself. She thinks she must be the luckiest woman in the world to be married to this man.
"You want to know who he practiced this performance with sweetheart?" Amber turns quickly and finds herself standing face to face with Sam. "It was me. We practiced those moves until they were fucking perfect. Sometimes we practiced all night long. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see you enjoying the fruits of Joe's and my labour's" Sam turns and walks away before Amber can say anything.
Amber suddenly feels tired. She takes Joey and heads to the bus.
They run into Andi when they get backstage. "Hey, you leaving already?"
Amber smiles, trying not to show she's upset. "Yeah I'm just a little hungry and tired. I thought I'd run out to the bus for a bit." Andi looks at her best friend and can see she's unhappy about something. "What was it? Was it Joe's sexy performance? Did you not like it?"
"No, it was great. I rather enjoyed it a lot. I wondered why he was working out so much. Now I know why." Amber makes an effort to smile, but it's weak and Andi knows Amber like the back of her own hand. "Okay spill. What's bothering you?" Amber sighs heavily. "You have to promise you won't say anything, to anyone." Andi promises. "Sam came up to me while Joe was dry humping the air and said they practiced that routine together, sometimes all night long. It's not a big deal. It's just getting old. She's determined not to let Joe and I be happy."
Andi's concerned. She can't allow Sam to ruin this for Amber and Joe. They've wanted this reunion for so long. Andi hates that she promised she wouldn't say anything. "Amber don't let that crazy woman get to you. She's just jealous that Joe chose you. Just ignore her. And if she doesn't get the hint soon, I'll make sure she gets the message loud and clear that Joe's yours and nothing can change that."
Amber laughs. "Thank you Andi. You're the best. Hey you want to help me with Joey's birthday party? I've got to do something big. I've missed so much, but I think missing his first two birthdays is the worst thing for me."
"I'd love to help. And I've got all the right connections to get it done too. Let's look at the schedule, see where we'll be so I can get us numbers for a bakery, decorations, everything we'll need."
Andi does not disappoint Amber. They get everything they need set up to throw Joey the best birthday party he could ever have. While on tour anyway.
