As mom sat there, I completely froze, almost missing the brakes entirely. As the car stopped, I flew forward but mom stayed where she was. I hit my head on the stirring wheel but other than that, I was fine. I don't heal as fast as Jonah but I'll be okay in a couple hours or so.
As mom looked over to me, my stomach flipped and my heart broke completely. I remember mom always had the bluest eyes that made anyone around her feel warm and hopeful inside, but the eyes I were staring at were discolored as if she was blind.
Her clothes were ripped and her skin was pale. Her face was scarred and her hair was messy but not like in the movies. Her hair was still pretty but it had a couple knots here and there.
The only words she spoke were, "Go to where you found me." She then disappears in black smoke which stayed in my car but eventually evaporated into thin air.
I couldn't help but think of the words she spoke. As the empty pit in my stomach got larger, I knew for a fact she wasn't talking about the gas station. She wants ME to go to where I found her. Which was our old trailer we used to live in. I bet if Jack was around at that time he would have got a big house that mom deserved. And he would have got her help too. And we would have been able to control our powers by now.
As I drove down the road that led to the trailer, I remembered the woods separated our house from the field containing our treehouse. I would always take my brothers in the woods and me and Jasper would work on that treehouse for hours and Luke and Jonah would just help here and there cause they weren't strong enough to hold up anything like me and Jasper could.
They loved it though when we finished it. We even showed mom. She was so excited, she even came up there with us, of course we helped her get up there but she always wanted the best for us, she just...had some problems she had to deal with and sometimes she would take them out on us.
But enough of that, as I shake my thoughts away, I turn off the engine and slowly get out of my car. The silence out here is so loud, I forgot how creepy it was at night.
As I walk up to the house I remember the open area that surrounded the house. It's a little growed up now but usually it was pretty taken care of, since mom never taught us how to take care of a yard we usually just used our hands when we were bored out of our minds. I know that seems bad but mom didn't really have a man in her life except Jack to teach her stuff to take care of herself, let alone us. We never complained though. As long as we all had something to do. Even Alex and Cooper came over a couple times and helped us so it's didn't really take that long.
When I make it to the front porch I remember seeing the Christmas lights still hung up. I doubt they work now but they were super bright and colorful when we used them for Christmas almost 11 or 12 years ago. Maybe we can renovate this place. The only good thing Lewis ever taught us was how to renovate and build stuff. I guess 10 years in a basement with leaky pipes, broken windows and cracked walls didn't really pay off that much. Maybe Jack will know something about how to fix this place up. And if we want, we can sell it and maybe help the girls get a place of their own. It won't be much with how crappy this place looks but maybe it will work out for them.
As I sat on the front porch with only the moonlight hitting my face, I couldn't help but think about all the stuff that my mind had convinced me into believing.
Most of the people I knew were gone. That was a complete solid fact. They were all gone except for the new people and my very close family. As the voices came back, a tear rolled down my cheek and I lied on my back just looking up at the Moon.
Go in the house. Your moms blood still might be there. Why did you run off with Lizzy even though you were supposed to be helping your mom? Your such a bad son.
