19. Awoken to another Shitty Day

As I awoke, I heard loud beeping coming from my alarm clock. I groaned in anger cause I was tired and didn't want to get up. I tried to turn it off but ended up throwing my alarm clock across the room causing it too hit the wall near my desk where my window was located.

I looked over and didn't see Andi and assumed she had gotten up and went down stairs already but when I got down there. The girls were no where in sight. I saw Jake sleeping on the couch, wrapped up all snug in a blanket. I scoffed and walked over to him grabbing an extra pillow and smacking him with it. "Get up, Jacob. We have a productive day today. Can't be sleeping on the job."

He groaned and rolled over just to hit me but he missed letting me have the opportunity to hit him again and again until he got up.
As he uncovered himself and walked in his room I noticed no one was in there. "Yo, uh why are you sleeping on the couch if no one's in your room?" I asked him confused.

He came to the door way seeming like he was confused on what I had asked and looked over to his own bed and remembered right away, "Oh. Yeah. I let Amber sleep in my room and I took the couch, the girls woke up earlier this morning and went to the diner to get coffee. I was asleep when they left but they sent me a message so all is good in the neighborhood." I looked at him confused and he says, "Don't mind me. I'm still too tired to understand anything especially what comes out of my mouth."

At that moment I hear Jasper's door squeak and he walks out in dark grey sweatpants, a white t-shirt, and his hair all messy. He goes to the counter to grab an apple and takes it back to his room, on the way there he waves and does the sup nod and we do the same.

Jake goes to the kitchen to make some food, I happily walk to the kitchen as well to help him. As we get all the ingredients, a tired Jonah emerges from the depths of his room.

He drags his feet to the fridge and almost trips, causing him to almost face plant into the fridge, he says in a sarcastic tone, "It's such a great day to nose dive into a fridge."

As he opens the fridge to find him something to eat for now, the front door opens. Soon 4 girls laughing as they enter the room.

"What's so funny?" Jonah asks tired and confused. Mary answers him while laughing, "Nothing." The girls calm down eventually and close the front door.

"We got coffee and doughnuts, bitches." Mary says setting the tray down as Amber sets the box of doughnuts down not looking nearly as excited.

I notice Amber isn't laughing and having as much fun as the other girls and I decide to ask her in private.

I get her attention by going over to her and laying my hand on her arm and jerk my head for her to follow me into my room but I don't close the door. "Hey, I noticed you weren't having as much fun as the others. Is something going on?"

She doesn't say anything. She just looks down at her feet and bites her bottom lip. She's probably uncomfortable with me.
How can I calm her nerves? "I-...I-" she speaks but then stutters trying to find the words and gets frustrated with her self.

It makes me smile that she doesn't realize how adorable that was but I get why she's getting frustrated. She can't find the words.
That's fine. I can be patient with her. She's probably been through a lot at home so she needs a minute to compose herself.

I decide to sit on the edge of my bed and she shifts awkwardly. Looking around frantically. I look away from her and say, "Take your time, Amber. Just focus on what you want to say. " I say it as calmly as I can but I do get very impatient but I'm trying my best with her.

She takes in a deep breathe and says, " My- My dad...Its-He..." She groans in frustration at her inability to speak. She shields her eyes by lowering her head and letting her hair fall from behind her ears.
