A blinding light shined upon my eyes as soon as I opened my eyes to start another day. I tried to go back to sleep, but I failed. I look up and saw Chris sound asleep with his arm rested on my side. We danced and kissed the night away until we both got tired. After telling him all of my childhood nightmares, he's still here to help me out with them.

I slowly grabbed Chris' hand and took it off of my waist and dropped it on the floor, not to forcefully to wake him up from his peaceful slumber. I got up, went to the bathroom and worked on breakfast. I looked in cabinets and found absolutely nothing to eat, most of the things in there were either expired or had mold growing on it. I closed the cabinet and went out to hunt for something.

As soon as I walked in the woods, more memories of Dad and I killing little rabbits and feasting on them from dinner every 2 weeks. I lightly smile at the thought of being with Dad when I was little. I crouched behind a tree and aimed my arrow at a wild boar that was just prancing around. I let go and the boar screeched and dropped to the grassy terrain. I take my arrow out of the boar's body and dragged it out of the woods and back to the house.

I closed and locked the door, in case of The Infected. I grabbed a long and sharp meat cleaver and start chopping away limb after limb. Half of an hour later, I was cooking them in a old frying pan. The aroma must've woken up Chris as I felt a pair of arms wrapped around me from behind. At first it scared the hell out of me, but when I turned around I saw his beautiful face.

"What's cookin' good lookin' " He said,

"Wild boar, shot it in the woods while you were asleep" I said, focusing on not burning the food,

"Want me to take over the cooking?" He said,

"Yeah sure" I said.

I reached up into the cabinet and got out 2 plates, silverware, and napkins. Chris served the boar and we devoured it until the boar was gone. I grabbed the dishes and put them in the sink and washed them off. I felt like Chris and I could be a married couple, compared to the way that we're acting.

"When should we start heading back to #5672 to get my troops?" I said, grabbing my jacket.

"Whenever you want to leave Alli" He said.

I was now getting used to him calling me Alli. Even though it's my dad's nickname for me, and every time someone says it I get anxiety from it, I know I have Chris by my side to remind me that my Dad is still here, just in a better place and in a better condition.

"Ok, let's get going then" I said, starting to head for the door. On my way, I tripped over something and fell on to the rug with a thud. My foot hurted but I would get over it later. I look and see what it was, it was a medium sized chest. It looked like it was still in great condition, by the looks of it that is.

I looked at Chris and he looked at me. The eagerness to open up the chest grew inside of me as I drew closer and closer to the latches of it. I unlatched them and lifted up the lid and looked inside. Inside was basically old crap that my Dad stored when the Infection came near. At first, I wasn't really interested in taking anything, but then a black box caught my eye.

I reached in and grabbed it. Hamburg The Jeweler was engraved on top of it's lid. I opened it and a ravishing pink birthstone necklace laid inside. My mouth dropped in awe, how did Dad be able to save that inside of this chest for so long? Who is it for? I know my birthday is in January, but Dad would never buy me something this beautiful.

"Wow. That has to be worth a lot of money now." Chris said, taking a closer glance at the fortune.

Inside of the box was a note. Maybe this can tell me who is this for. I opened it up and looking at the fine hand-writing,

Dear Alli,

By the time you read this, I would be dead or bitten and turned. I'm really going to miss the memories you and me have had together. I thought that when your shitty excuse of a mother left me and you to fight off on our own, I wondered how much she is going to regret seeing such a beautiful, brave, and powerful women that you've become. That necklace, my darling, is for you. I want this to be a little thank you to you for being my light in the dreary darkness in this fucked up world. I want you to remember that no matter where we are, I will always love you. You will always be my little girl Alli, never forget that Sweetie. I love you so much, please take care, be strong, and keep fighting. For me baby.

Love, Daddy.

My eyes watered at my father's last written words. Chris read the letter while I read it. I wiped my eyes on my jacket sleeve, trying to quote my dad's words "be strong."

"Here let me put it on for you" Chris said,

I pulled my hair to the side as he clipped the clasp and the chain together. I looked down at it and it looked elegant on me. Since Dad and I lived here, Dad rarely got money from his job, we almost lost our house but Dad was always managed to keep it under control. I turned to Chris and showed him the beauty from within.

"That looks gorgeous on you Alli." he said, admiring how the light reflected on the birthstone,

"Dad got this for me, it's a little present that he saved for me. Somehow, he thought that one day I'm going to come back and find it so I guess that's why he left it there. It's to show his token to my bravery and honor in the War." I said, now looking out of the window,

"When you fight in that first battle back at your zone, your Dad and I will be thinking about you. Every gun shot, will represent as your courage to not go down without a fight." He said,

I smiled and kissed him.

"Thanks" I said, opening the door and stepping out to begin our way to #5672.
