I looked down at the dusty dirt path as I walked with the crew. The duffel bag that had the limbs of the buck that I shot in the woods hung around my shoulder. Trevor had my arrows and my bow since I couldn't carry them. Once in a while, we stopped to have a quick drink and some beef jerky from our backpacks.
"What are we going to do with the deer?" Rocky said,
"We'll cook it tonight if we don't get to the train station in a couple hours" I said.
We put our jerky and water bottles back into our backpacks and coninued to walk down the path. After an hour, we finally saw the Train Station. I sighed in relief, while the other 3 smiled and high fived each other. I didn't want to spend another night in the woods thanks to the example of this morning.
We kept walking till we saw the sign,
"Quarantine #2326 Train Station & Depot"
I feel like I haven't seen this place in ages. I only been on a train a couple of times when I was little, now I use it to get to different Quarantine Zones that are all the way on the other side of the States. Everything looked the same as it did before The Vaccine Failure. I'm surprised The Infected haven't burned down this place yet, I'm more surprised that some trains still come here to see if anyone needs transportation. Everyone originally stay at their Quarantine Zone, unless they go A-Wall.
"Before the train comes, lets scope for The Infected, don't go too far just the 2nd and 3rd floors" I said, grabbing my bow and arrows from Trevor.
Everyone nods and spreads out, while I stealth into the offices. I like to look around a bit. I like to see what life was like before it got fucked up. I look on the walls to see achievements from the people that used to work here in the Depot. There is diplomas from college, pictures of people with kids and loved ones.
There's more pictures of people with their husbands or wives with their kids. They probably died, got bitten and turned into a Flesh Eater, or got tranfered to a Zone. I look inside the desk drawers and saw a rotten hand with a bite mark. My nose cringed up in disgust, it smelled horrible.
I shut the drawer and tried different drawers to see if there is any pistol ammo. I did find only 2 packages. It was enough for me, you got to use what you need to use. I unzipped my backpack and put the ammo inside.
I checked the other offices and saw parts of a body on the floor and inside of desks. No sign of The Infected in the offices or the halls. Rocky, Matthew, and dumbass Trevor came down the stairs from the upper floors.
"No sign of Infected on the 2nd and 3rd floors" Trevor said, he didn't notice where he was going and fell down the stairs.
"Now you're definitely not being the night guard when we camp out again" I said, shaking my head in disappointment.
Then the place started to rumble and lights from down the tunnel started to light the way. The train was coming. As the trains slowed down into the station, the conductor looked at us with a smile.
"FINALLY!! PEOPLE THAT NEED SOMEPLACE TO GO!! Your not bitten are you?" The Conductor questioned,
"Nope, are you bitten?" I questioned him,
"Not a scratch on me from those bastards! Where are you off to?" The Conductor said,
"We are going to Quarantine Zone #5672 for a supply pickup" I said
"Alrighty then, any luggage that needs cooking?" He asked, referring to the duffel bag.
"Yes, Deer parts" I said,
"Ok, I'll take care of it for dinner tonight, You guys take your seats and enjoy the ride." He said, taking the duffel bag into the kitchen car for the cooks to fry up.
We went into a passenger car as the train lunged and started to the route to Zone #5672.
