Chapter 25

Chris and I walked out of the Private Training Hall and the bright hot sun bathed in us. I hold his hand and a couple girls, who clearly aren't training like they are supposed to be, giggled and waved at him. Chris was still shirtless, and the girls were basically drooling at the sight of him.

I let go of his hand and pushed one of the girls into the wall.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING SOLDIER?!" I said, she didn't answer me,

"ANSWER ME! THAT'S A DIRECT ORDER!" I yelled,

She sighed, "Nothing Lieutenant Cambridge."

"That's what I thought, and for disobeying me, you and your friends here can have 2 extra hours of Training, and includes no breaks." I said,

"If you don't do as I say, you can kiss your spot here goodbye. So I suggest that you stop drooling over my boyfriend and start getting prepared." I said. As soon as boyfriend came out of my mouth, they immediately stepped away.

Chris was a little shocked, but we kinda are boyfriend and girlfriend. I mean, we both love each other, he left #5672 to come here, all for me. I took his hand and walked away to the Mess Hall.

"Babe, calm down. Don't let girls like them get to your head. I only love one person, and that one person is you Alice. Never forget that. Ever." Chris said, after that he kissed me passionately.

I closed my eyes and let the heat overpower my entire body. His lips were so sweet and luscious. I heard someone behind me clear their throat. I pulled away from Chris and I looked to see Gabe looking at us in the midst of our affection. He looked a little flustered but then tried to hide it, but little did he know, I noticed his anger and anguish. 

"Um, Alice, we need to report to the Vault immediately. It's an emergency." Gabe said,

"Can I just grab my lunch first?" I said, pointing to the door to the Mess Hall,

"Unfortunately, no we can. Come on." Gabe said, grabbing my wrist and practically dragging me to the Vault, absolutely leaving Chris behind. I managed to get my wrist out of his tight grasp. I winced to see that he left a red mark where his hand was.

"I hope you realize that you hurt my wrist" I said,

"You'll live" Gabe said, in a very rude attitude. I was taken back at his comment. No one talks to me, out of all people, like that. He's got some fucking nerve to do so.

"What the hell got you in such a pissy mood today?" I said, with a hint of the Cambridge sass. 

"It's really nothing Alice. Don't worry about it." He said, I knew he was lying through his teeth, I just know it. When we first became friends, we promised to always tell the truth to each other, no matter what. I decided to drop the conversation since we have arrived to the Vault.

We entered inside and closed and locked the door. I saw Chuck and he gave me a smile. I shook his hand.

"It's glad to have you back Miss. Alice" Chuck said,

"I'm glad too. What's the emergency about?" I questioned,

"The radars are now completely fixed and updated. The bad thing is, The Infected. Their coming." Chuck said in a sinister and low tone,

"Let me see" I said, walking over to the Control Panel. I looked at the radar and my eyes bulged out of their sockets. I watched multiple X's dance around on the screen. The X's represented The Infected.

"Holy shit" I said, walking back to the table and putting my head in my hands.

"I'm predicting that they will be at the Boarder within 3 days. That gives us 2 days to get ready to go into battle. That new friend and soldier of yours, he can't come with us." Gabe said,

I looked at him like I was going to kill him. I got up from my chair and tried my best to distract myself from straggling him.

"Why can't he come with us?" I asked him,

Gabe didn't answer me.

"WHY CAN'T HE COME WITH US?" I yelled. It caught his attention.

"Because he just joined this Quarantine Zone. You need to be here for one week to be able to go into battle" Chuck added on,

I wanted to strangle both of them. "It doesn't matter how long he has been here for, besides without him joining us, we will be outnumbered. Hell, we will be more than outnumbered, we will all be killed." I said, trying my best not to yell again. My throat hurt from yelling at them a few minutes ago.

They didn't say anything else back to me. I'm glad that they did, they were wasting their breaths. I stormed out of the Vault and ran to my cabin. I needed to be alone. I can't leave Chris here while I'm off fighting for my Dad and for the sake of humanity. I locked the door behind me and slid down and cried in my own arms.

I can't leave him here. I love him too much to leave him behind. I can't.
