For the past 2 hours, Chris gotten to know Rocky, Matthew, and Trevor quite well. The 3 of them got to know him as well. I made me so happy that they are happy and not each others throats. As it got later and later, we all choose to talk in the morning. Everyone got back in their regular seats and dozed off.
Chris got up and got my blanket and put it on top of me. The fuzziness gave me such warmth as I snuggled into it. Chris put his arm around my shoulder, signaling that he wants me to put my head on his shoulder. I obliged and I started to drift off. Chris' last words before I fall asleep were "Have a good rest Alli"
The morning sun glistened through the window to my face as soon as I wake up. As soon as my eyes adjusted to the light, I looked up at Chris' face. He was looking out of the window, he didn't even know that I'm up right now. I pressed my lights up to his neck and started kissing him. He was a little startled at first but started to attack my lips soon after.
"Oh god. Come on, I just got up" I heard Matthew said,
"Yeah guys, no PDA" Trevor said,
I scoffed, "Well stop looking at us then"
"We can't resist it" Rocky said, being dramatic by putting her hand up to her forehead.
"Attention Ladies and Gentlemen, We will be arriving to Quarantine Zone #2326 Train Station and Depot in approximately 5 minutes. Thank you for riding with us and have a safe trip." Damien said over the intercom. I put the blanket back into my bag and got settled for departure. The train stopped moving and we got off the train.
I waved goodbye to Damien and he blew the train whistle and he threw a couple shovelfuls of coal in the boiler and the train lurched and started making it's way someplace else. It was the middle of the morning and we have a long way to go until we get to the Checkpoint.
"Wait a second, Chris doesn't have a Registration Pass. How will he get in?" Matthew said,
"I could probably get registered" Chris said,
"I'll tell the guards to register you in when we get there" I said,
30 minutes of walking on the dirt road, we heard rumbling. It wasn't like an earthqauke rumbling, but like a truck was coming. Like I predicted, a truck came with big black numbers #2326 Rescue Team. I wondered why the Rescue Team is out here. The only time The Rescue Team needs to come out is when someone is in danger, when The Infected is near the boarder, or when someone is accused of going a-wall.
I made the Rescue truck pull over, only to see Wayne, the Rescue Team Captain.
"Wayne, why do you have the truck out here?" I said,
"Chuck and Avery restarted up the Control Rooms power and we were shown that The Infected is starting to come their way. And by the looks of it, there is a lot more of them coming than we have expected." Wayne said,
"Guys we really need to hurry back home." I said,
"We can call one of the trucks to come pick you guys up." Wayne said,
"Thanks Wayne, I know we can count on you" I said,
Wayne called for the nearest truck to come pick up the 5 of us.
"Alright, we have someone coming you guys up right now" Wayne said,
"Well you guys better get to the boarder now, go on, get to it" I said,
Wayne started up his truck and drove away. I sat down on the ground and waited for the truck to come pick us up. Chris came over to me and I put my head on his shoulder.
"I'm really glad that I joining you guys" Chris said,
"I'm glad that you tagged along, because without you, I would be a nothing." I said, attacking his lips after.
We heard the truck roll up and Chris and I broke apart. We picked ourselves up and got in. Wayne's brother Evan, Chris, and I were in the front. Rocky, Matthew, and Trevor were in the back. We drank our water bottles and started to sing old car songs.
I personally don't sing in public. In private, I would sing a song that Dad taught me when he first took me in the woods. The song was called "Soon"
The deer come out every morning, some might even say,
Only to be killed at the end of the day,
Nobody ever thought that it would be this way,
The end will be soon, we all would be doomed.
But then came a Rabbit, so cute and quite petite,
Only to be killed by hanging from his feet,
Nobody ever thought that it would be this way,
The end will be soon, we all would be doomed.
But then came a Bear, so big and strong,
Only to be killed by a shot to it's heart,
Nobody ever thought of it would be this way,
The end will be soon, we all would be doomed,
And lastly came The Infected, so dirty, grim, and old,
Only to be killed by an Army of a Whole,
Nobody ever thought of it would be this way,
the end will be soon, we all would be doomed
Dad and I would always sing that whenever we went to hunt in the forest. I would belt out the lyrics while Dad hummed. I've had dreams of singing "Soon" while I'm on my way to battle. I looked out of the window, Chris is holding my hand. Everything is perfect.
