I woke up to someone shaking my shoulder. I grabbed the hand and tackled the person to the floor. I was about to break the person's arm till I saw that it was Matthew. I release my grasp of his arm, he thinks that his jokes are funny, let's see if he's laughing when he gets bitten by The Infected.
"You dumb asshole" I yelled,
"Woah Alice your not a morning person" Matthew said, putting his hands up like he would for a officer.
"Well don't ever touch me, ever" I said, pure venom and rage dripped out of the words that came out of my mouth.
Matthew straightened up and took a few steps back. He knows when to leave me the hell alone. I put my blanket and pillow back in my backpack and sat back in my seat. I want this train ride to be over with. I want the supplies then I want to go back to the Zone.
Suddenly the train stopped moving. I wondered what the hell is going on, I looked out the window and saw a sign.
#5672 Train Station and Post Office
Finally we are here. The conductor came in our car with a smile on his face. I hate that this guy is always happy and cheery, he seems like he doesn't mind the Apocalypse at all. I couldn't imagine feeling happy with half of the human race gone and the world is tearing at the seams. Dad wants me to be happy, but I just can't be.
I snapped myself out of my trance as we started to exit the train. Rocky, Trevor, and lastly Matthew stepped off to go scope for any Infected. I was about to step off the train to go join them till the Conductor spoke up.
"Hey kid" I hear from behind,
"Yeah?" I said,
He sat down and patted the seat next to him, I sat down right next to him to continue the conversation.
"You and your friends are really brave for going out there" he said, motioning to our journey for the supplies that we need.
"So what? Why do you care?" I said, not trying to sound rude towards him.
"I never saw kids so young, go out and sacrifice their lives just like you guys do" the Conductor said,
"We are still regular kids" I said,
"No your not. You guys had such little time of being kids. Before, you played with dolls and blocks. Now, you play with pistols and knives" he said. That shut me up, he had a good point. I don't really remember playing with the kids down the street anymore, I think about staying alive and killing Flesh Eaters.
"My name is Damien" he said, holding out his hand for me to shake.
"Alice Cambridge" I said, shaking his hand.
"Hope to see you again Alice" Damien said, heading back to the front of the locomotive. I got up from my seat and exited the train. I got my pistol out of my pocket just in case The Infected tries to pull a fast one on me.
"ALICE, RUN!" I heard from behind. Trevor, Rocky, and Matthew were running away from something. I aimed my pistol for what was going to come out from the shadows. At least 20 of the Infected were running after them. I need to think, and I need to think fast. If I try to shoot them all, I could probably get bitten. If I run, I would have a good chance of living.
"THEN LETS GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE" I screamed as they came closer to the four of us. We didn't jog like we do at Training, we ran. Our heartbeats were going insane, our breathes were stuck in our throats. Damien's train must've left the station, hopefully he's ok.
We reached the door and tried to open it. The fucking lock was jammed. We didn't have enough time to mess with it, We ran up the staircase till we reached the roof.
"We gotta jump" I said,
Before they can even argue, the Infected started to run after us. We have no other choice. We ran and jumped off the building and just ran away. We didn't look back.
