13: Calm Before The Storm

Sapphire's POV

They say when you are being chased you suddenly become a track star. Your adrenaline doesn't allow you to slow down...mostly. That is the feeling I am having now. I turn back every moment to make sure that they were not behind me. But who is 'they' ? whom am I running from ?Apparently I am running deep inside the woods. I wanted to stop but my subconscious mind was telling me to run. I looked down at my hands but they were blurry, my vision was becoming blurry.

After running a long time I came to stop near a cliff. But why here ? why did I came here ?

I peered downwards to see the calm Malorie river which was named after The first ever water elemental. The depth of the cliff was very deep. If one was to fall from here I doubt they will live. Shuddering I took some steps back but tripped on my feet and fell down. But why I didn't felt the pain, strange. I reached for my shoes to fix it but stopped. These silver belle flats looks familiar. But these doesn't belong to me. These are Zoe's shoes. Her shoes which she never wears. Why am I wearing her shoes. I stood up and dusted off my dress.

Suddenly I was behind the bushes. How the heck I transported here. I looked towards the cliff to see a girl with silver belles. Her hair was blonde. Wait that was me some minutes ago but she isn't me. My eyes widened in horror when I realized it was not me but Zoe. How did this happen. Suddenly I saw two shadows, they were slowly moving towards Zoe who was standing with her back to them. My heart thumped as I realized what they were going to do.

I tried to shout but no voice came out of my mouth. I tried to run but it was like I was glued to my spot. I saw with tears in my eyes as those figures approached Zoe slowly. I wanted to move, scream but I was paralyzed. I tried to blink my eyes but in vain. 'Please god no..please I beg you please don't do that'. My nails dug into the dirt, my throat was burning, my whole body was on fire. I felt overwhelmed with all these emotions I felt as I was dying. But no I have to save Zoe. Just as they pushed Zoe off the cliff a scream tore out of my throat.

Cold water was doused on me . My eyes shot open. I realized I was screaming. "Shut up, stop screaming Sapphire" I sat up on the bed and looked around hurriedly to see Lana standing beside my bed with a bucket in her hands. I stood up hurriedly and started to search for my phone. "Sapphire what happened ?" Lana asked worriedly. "I need to call Z....Zoe, she....she is in danger" I said in between sobbing. ''No one is in danger you were just dreaming" I heard Lana saying but i really need to make sure by myself. I found my phone under the pillow and quickly switched it on to see 10 missed calls from Zoe. Oh my God is she really in danger. I quickly called her back but was frustrated to see that there was no signal. I quickly turned around to leave the room but Lana grabbed my hands stopping me. "What the heck happened ?''

"There is no reception here I have to call Zoe" I said while trying to remove my arm from her hold.

"Fine go outside you may find reception" Lana said releasing me. I ran outside the house without bothering to wear my shoes and sent a small prayer upwards seeing a single line on the phone.

Zoe picked up the phone immediately. "Sapphire what the hell happened to you, why aren't you picking up my calls" Zoe almost shouted.

"Zoe are you okay ? Did anything happened to you ? Are you in danger ?" I asked rapidly.

"Breathe woman breathe. I am fine what would happen to me" She asked.

"Are you really okay ?" I asked again.

"Yes I am perfectly fine but why the heck you weren't picking up the calls" she screamed. I relaxed after hearing that she is safe and fine. "I am sorry my phone was switched off. I just saw a very bad dream and was worried when I saw your 10 missed calls" I confessed.
