32: Betrayed?

                                                                 ‘’He kissed and you didn’t enjoy it?’’ Zoe asked curiously.

‘’No, I didn’t’’ I murmured into the phone. Zoe called me when I forgot our promise to meet up.

‘’Hold on let me beat him up’’

‘’No! don’t.’’ I said chuckling.

‘’Still, I need to beat him up for being a bad kisser’’ Zoe huffed.

‘’It wasn’t about being a good or bad kisser Zoe, I just didn’t like him kissing me and I don’t even want to entertain this thought further’’ I said biting my nails.

‘’So basically, you are over your crush?’’ 
‘’Yes, yes that’s right, I am over that damned crush now’’ I said feeling relieved after a long time.

‘’I am happy with whatever you decide Saph’’ Zoe said.

‘’Thank you, Zoe, for always being with me’’ I smiled to myself.
‘’Now how do you break this news to brother dearest?’’

‘’I will figure it out later but tell me about you and the lover boy’’ I giggled.

‘’Oh Emmett? We are in the talking phase right now’’ she said shyly.
‘’Wow you ‘like’ like him, don’t you?’’ I asked seriously.

‘’It seems so, he’s very attentive and sweet and I don’t want to scare him away’’ Zoe said softly.

‘’And do you know he’s an elemental too? An earth elemental which complements me perfectly.’’

‘’Really? That’s cool’’ I pretended to be surprised and feeling guilty for keeping things from her.

A buzzing sound diverted my mind from my guilt. Looking down I saw Lana was calling me.

‘’Hey Zoe, I’ll call you later?’’

‘’Sure, bye and take care’’
I tried to call Lana back but suddenly someone touched my shoulder lightly.

Startled I manifested a blade hovering over my palms ready to attack.

‘’It’s me’’ came a subdued voice.

‘’Lana? I was about to call you back’’ Hurriedly I put my hands down with the blade disappearing.

‘’Never mind that, we need a plan about bringing Derek to the palace’’

‘’To confess about Charles?’’ I prompted.

‘’Yes, we should do it before he changes his mind. ’’

‘’But what if the King already knows that Charles was the one behind this mess? What if he’s trying to protect him?’’ I asked doubtfully.

‘’He has no reason to protect him’’ Lana protested.

‘’We don’t know that’’ I pointed out. ‘’Anyway, what’s the plan’’ I changed the question when Lana didn’t answer.

‘’Me and grandma will be there as guests so we will teleport him with us and hide him here until the right time comes’’ Lana rushed.

‘’But that sounds risky, what does Lavia have to say about this?’’

‘’She shares your sentiments, but she’s busy running that damn bastard’s errands’’ Lana fumed.

‘’The king?’’ I asked to which she nodded.

‘’Don’t ask me what errands because I have no idea’’ she said making herself comfortable on my bed.

A heaviness settled in my chest, something bad is going to happen. I just know it.
