Finding A Home Amongst The Wolves

Throwing up bacon

I woke up in my bed with the smell of my mate around me but the bed beside me is cold and empty so I know he got up way before I did. Sighing softly I try to get up but plop right back down as a wave of dizziness hits me hard. Rubbing my temples I place a shaky hand on the bed before slowly getting up to my feet. When nothing happens I shrug my shoulders and chalk it up to just standing up too fast.

Walking into my bathroom I flick the light on and stare in the mirror at my face; I don't know why but I feel different, I can't really place where exactly or what exactly changed though. Grabbing my toothpaste and brush I begin to brush my teeth as I list everything I need to do today. Shedding my sleep clothes I let them fall to the floor as I turn the water for the shower on.

I wash up quickly before stepping out of the shower and wrapping a towel around my body and one around my hair. Walking into the room I hum softly as I go to my closet and drop the towel to the floor before pulling my bra and underwear on. I continue to hum a song I don't remember knowing when I hear Crystal's voice in my head making me jump softly because I was so out of it.

I didn't expect to hear her voice.

"I haven't heard that song in forever."

"You mean you've heard it before? Also don't scare me like that."

She laughs softly in my head as I feel her literally roll over and begin purring softly.

"Of course I've heard it before. It's a family song that us females sing when we're happy."

Scrunching my eyebrows I look at the floor as I think about what she said; I mean I don't feel any happier than usual.

Actually to be quite honest, I'm a little sad.

Forgetting about it, I finish getting dressed, brushing my hair and putting it up in a ponytail to manage it.

Before leaving to grab some breakfast I hang the towels up so I can reuse it when it dries. Walking down to the kitchen I don't see anyone else which is kind of weird for a pack this size, this early in the morning. Smiling softly I begin to scrounge around in the fridge for some bacon to cook. I find a package and pull it out as well as butter, bread, and a pan.

Putting bread in the toaster I open the bacon package, I grab a couple pieces and begin to cook it. As the bacon sizzles in the pan my toast pops so I pull it out and butter it; walking back to the pan I take a bite of my toast and flip my three pieces of bacon in the pan so it crisps on the other side. A minute goes by, I turn off the heat and place my pieces on the same plate as my other piece of toast.

I turn around and almost jump out of my skin when I see a few members of the pack and my family staring at me. Staring wide eyed at them I cleared my throat before heading to the island to sit and eat.

"You know you could've said something instead of staring creepily at me from the corner right?"

"We've been standing here for like five minutes. You were humming very intently... you have a beautiful voice by the way," said Sin.

Ash and her are the first to walk in and take a seat; and if I wasn't so embarrassed and blushing so hard I would rib her about how she unconsciously sits in his lap.

Danny and her mate go sit beside the other two; as she walks she wiggles her eyebrows and grins at me like she knows something I don't or something I should know. Feeling really confused now I put another piece of bacon in my mouth as I unconsciously give Xena a kiss on the cheek like she does the same to me before walking over to the fridge and pulling out food so she can make breakfast for everyone.
