I'm so sorry. It was never my intention.

~Unknown POV~

Shot gun in hand I scan the woods around me. Making certain that no one lingers or found out where I'm hiding I shut the door tightly behind me and lock it. Sighing I run my hands down my face and barely contain a whimper, turning around I stare blankly at the arrangement of the room. Cursing my entire existence for what I was born to do.

Born into a family that despised and killed supernaturals I had no choice but to train for eighteen long years for the same purpose. I was born into it, I never chose it, and if it was up to me I would never be involved in it.

I hate it!

Walking blindly through the house I know this house inside and out, backwards and forwards. Reaching out I push the hidden tile on the wall causing the wall in front of me to swing open and a tunnel to appear in front of me, walking down the stairs I hear the faint click of the wall as it softly swings shut behind me.

Descending the stairs every seven or so steps a torch on the wall flairs to life allowing me to see down ahead of me and as I get to the bottom I take a deep breath before spinning the latch and opening the door. Almost immediately the scent of blood hits me, but I'm used to blood.

I'm used to death and I'm used to pain.

The dimmed light creates a soothing atmosphere as it never shuts off which allows for the nine lion shifters down here to see each other and ultimately me as I enter the room. When I first brought them down here they were all passed out and the time after that when I came down here to check on them they were still pretty much asleep but now, almost four hours later, all of them are awake and very much alert.

I gulped softly, but I'm aware of the fact that they heard it, and walk to the table that has all the medical supplies needed to take care of unfortunate shifters that manage to catch my family's eye. Walking up to the cell bars I place the box of medical supplies on the floor beside me and lean against the bars.

Inside the cell are five males and four females, and as soon as I lean against the bars the males come forward, keeping the females behind them as they snarl at me in warning.

"I'm not going to hurt you, I'm sorry that I have to keep you in here but it's too dangerous for you to be outside right now. I have some medical supplies for you in case you need it."

We stare at one another for awhile. No one moving and the only thing heard is the sound of my breath as it goes in and out. They continued to bare their teeth at me but the snarling stopped as I never reached for anything and they probably realized that I carried no weapons with me.

"I uh, I can slide the box through for you if you don't want me coming in..."

The biggest one steps forward: the one with the tallest figure, stronger frame, better mane, and stronger authority oozing from him.

And then he shifts, but unlike the wolves when they shift he stays in whatever clothes he had on when he shifted but right now they weren't much of anything. He walks towards me, cautiously placing his hand on the bars, and when there's no sizzling or burning he leans forward, staring directly into my eyes as I stare back into his.

"What is the purpose of this? Get us all healed up before you torture and kill us?"

Shaking my head rapidly back and forth it's a miracle that I don't get whiplash from it.

"That's not what I want at all. I want you to go home to your family's, safe from harm. But I can't send you home today, or tomorrow... or even the day after that."

"Then when can you!"

"I don't know! I'm so sorry, it was never my intention. It wasn't my fault!"
