Finding A Home Amongst The Wolves

Death comes in three's

After what happened with Blake in his office I realized that Crystal wasn't as immune to our mate as she let on. I was so ashamed by what I had let happen that I stayed in my room, sleeping on and off until it was time to get up. 

Crystal withdrew in her shame and it's the longest I've ever lived without feeling her presence or voice in my head. 

A soft knock was sounded on the door and I heard Sin's soft voice on the other side saying it was time. Getting up I stretched before stripping off all my outer clothes and walking to the dresser. 

Sighing softly I pull out a plain, soft black t-shirt and leggings before wiggling into them and striding to the bathroom. Looking at myself in the mirror I turn the tap on warm, and splash the water onto my face. I try unsuccessfully to rub away the previous activities shame. 

Patting my skin dry with a towel to proceed to brush my teeth before throwing my hair into a ponytail and leaving the confines of my room with my shoes in my hand. 

Walking straight outside I see all seven of the other people coming with me. Following me on this journey would be Xena, Sin, Danny, Ash, Dana, India, and Seph. 

It goes quiet as I step outside, except for Danny and Joey who stand off to the side arguing about something. After a moment Joey storms off and Danny walks towards me with a sad but determined look on her face. 

"Alright lets get this show on the road."

Not wanting to question her right now I nod my head and look around, slowly looking each member in the eye.

"This is how this is going to work; we're all going to shift and stay shifted until we get close enough. Ash and Sin are going to lead the front since Sin knows where she's going. Following after them is Xena, Dana, India, Danny, Seph, and lastly I'll hold the rear.  Anyone that doesn't want to do this tell me now cause I won't have someone going into a potentially dangerous and unknown area that wont give their full 100 percent effort."

Everyone looks towards one another but no one leaves so I assume we're all on the same page. 

A bone cracking sets it off and soon I stand and watch as everyone but Xena and Sin shift. Wolves and lions stand together and if I didn't know this wouldn't last I'd be standing in appreciation of the site, but I'm not stupid. I know this isn't meant to be. 

Instead I watch as Sin climbs on top of Ash who stands far too high up for her to comfortably climb on so he crouches down as low as possible. 

Feeling a gaze behind me, I turn around to meet it head on and see the Alpha and Beta.

"Xavier, Alpha Knight, what can I do for you?"

Xena comes up behind me, placing her arm around my shoulders as she leans forward to kiss her mate goodbye.

"You're kind of small to carry Xena on you back Snow; how do you plan on doing that for that long of a time?"

"I've done it before in emergencies but don't worry about her Xavier. Xena can keep up on her own."

"Don't worry bout Lil ol' me babe. I may not be able to shift naturally but I can do a bunch of other things."

I feel her arm slip form my shoulders. Her hair lightly brushes against me as she turns away from me and goes to where the others are waiting. Finally looking at the Alpha, it's physically hard for me to look him in his eyes after what happened between us.

Even though it was actually Crystal and Shadow, I still feel awkward cause I know it was my body and face and I know it was his body and face. 

"Alpha Knight, thank you for lending the extra hands. I'll make sure they all come back even if it costs me my life."
