~Snow~
It's been a couple days since that fateful day in his office and ever since then I can't stop eating. It's like a switch flipped in my brain and now the baby is making me crave everything; have you ever tried fried pickles dipped in sour cream? No? Well neither have I before today. The weird food cravings aren't the only thing this baby wants; he/she loves daddy's company and wants me to be around him all the time.
I don't know how it knows there's someone nearby but it does and it loves daddy's company the most. Now normally this wouldn't be a big deal but with our fight, what he said to me last time, and on top of all the shit fuckery going on my rampaging emotions can't handle all these ups and downs.
Dipping another pickle in my bowl of sour cream I take a big bite out of my tasty concoction and stare at the grossed out looks from my family as I sit at the kitchen table in Blake's lap. Ever since the news broke out he hasn't really left my side unless absolutely necessary, which ya know the baby loves but me? I can't put my finger on the part where the feeling turns from hate to love. Taking another bite I think about the nasty but incorrect rumors going around the Pack and pride from our meeting the other day.
I didn't anticipate it spreading so quickly but no matter we'll be hearing back soon from Sin and Ash. If they already know about Rafe being sick then we have a general idea on who our mole is. After that the only thing for us to do is beat the truth out of them and whoever else they're working with.
A Cheshire cat grin blooms on my face as I think about all the bones I'm going to break and all the blood that will be spilled. Before I can stop it a vicious growl pours from my throat, shattering the silence in the room, and making everyone jump. Pushing my food away from me the unexpected rage cools down as Blake rubs my stomach in small circles.
Huh, I guess this is what he's good for.
He murmurs softly against the back of my neck to settle and the blasted touch still immediately works on Crystal and I. Once I've calmed down enough I look at Xena as she sits across from me on Xavier's lap playing with his hair.
"Xena, are you sure they haven't been compromised?"
"Don't worry so much, if anything were to happen to them I'd know. They are fine, we are fine, everything is being handled."
Just then Danny walks in all sweaty and out of breath from training with her mate. She takes one look at me and takes pity on my soul. Walking over to me she grabs my hands and slowly pulls me up, being more cautious of Blake than of me. Once on my feet with Blake standing behind me protectively she begins to walk out the door.
"Come on Mama, you're wound up tighter than a clock. Let's go outside, shift, and get some fresh air."
Almost as if the word shift alone gave me another wind. I began to follow her faster before a hand on my shoulder stopped me in my tracks. Turning around I almost bite his hand clear off but I stop and instead settle for a solid evil glare that said 'stop me one more time and those jewels you love so much will be gone.' He releases his hand a bit but doesn't let go completely, I see the look in his eyes that clearly says he wants to pull me back into his lap.
"She can't shift, it'll hurt the baby."
Danny makes eye contact with him over my shoulder before giving him a gentle smile in acknowledgement.
"Lions are different, we can maintain a shift until a certain point and then our lioness counterpart will refuse to shift when it's at a vital time in her term. Just trust Crystal, if she needs something you'll know. We're very protective of our young; it's also why she's so cranky."
