Chapter Twenty
Payton’s POV
I watch as Reece grabs one of those canes and begins walking with it and I am shocked. Since when could he do that? I follow him through there beautiful house. He leads me into a large room with a huge flat screen TV, three large black leather couches, a big stone fire place under the TV and a big book case on one wall that is filled with movies and games. I look around in awe and the walls have family pictures hung across them. “You can have a sit,” Reece’s voice says sweetly and I cannot help but smile as I look back at him.
He is leaning he cane against the back of the leather couch and using his hand to feel his way around to the front of it. “Do you need help?” I ask him kind of worried for him.
“No, I can do it,” he insists and I nod as I watch him with closed eyes feel his way to the front of the couch and then use his hand to sit down. I smile at how he did it even though it took him a little bit. His blue eyes pop open and I cannot help but stare at them.
“Are you going to sit down?” he asks me with a raised eye brow even though he was looking a little over to my right.
“Yeah,” I say and his eyes flicker to where I stood and I begin walking towards him and sit down on his left side drop my bag at our feet. “When did you learn how use the cane?” I ask him not being able to handle my curiosity.
“This morning, that’s why I am not that good at it yet,” he says turning his head in my direction.
“I thought you were pretty good,” I say to him as I pull the Braille book from inside my bag.
“Thanks,” he says and then turns his head away from me. “Let’s start this lesson,” he adds with a smile that seems kind of forced, but I choose to ignore it.
“Alright,” I say cracking the book open. “Let’s review first,” I instruct as I place the book onto his lap and I quiz him on the letters A-T.
He gets stuck on a few of them but, finally has them all down pat.
“Now onto U,” I say as I run his hand over the letter.
“One dot right top, two dots on the bottom,” he says as he shuts his eyelids hiding his blue eyes and feels the dots.
“Correct,” I say and give him a feel more seconds until he stops moving his hand. “Now V,” I say as I place his hand onto the V.
He runs his hand over it; eyes still shut and feel the dots. “Three downs on the right and one on the bottom left,” he says as he feels over it. “Now to the next one,” he adds with a smile.
