Chapter Forty-Three
Payton’s POV
I lay in Reece’s arms on the couch; his arms are around my waist and my hands are intertwined with his. I gently play with his fingers as we lay on the couch.
“Payton,” Reece says in a soft voice pulling my attention to his face. Looking through my eyelashes I smile up at him. How can anyone be so prefect?
“Reece,” I reply with a smile and watch as the corner of his perfect lips pull up into a smile. His blue eyes are shinning so bright and my heart is slamming against my chest.
“You know I have been thinking, I think that God did this for me on purpose. God took away my sight for a bigger reason. He led me to you. I mean there are a lot of bad things that have come from this. I will never see my sisters grow up or my brother settle down. I will never be able to play sports and run track again. I will never be able to drive a car again or be normal. All the things are bad and hurt, but with you by my side I can face it all. You are better than all the worst. You are the best thing to happen to me. I’m sure is this wouldn’t have happened then I would find my way to you another way, but I am happy I got you this soon. God work in mysterious ways and this was our way of supposed to be coming together. I love you,” Reece says to me as he continues to play with my fingers.
“Reece that is so sweet. But can I ask you a question?” I ask looking away from his face in fear. I know the question. It has haunted me for a very long time.
“You just did, but of course you can ask more,” he replies as I sense calmness in his voice and his hands continue to play with mine.
“If you were to get your sight back today, would you still love me?” I ask. I know it may seem like a very stupid question, but I cannot help to ask. I am curious. Would he or would he ditch me?
Reece’s heart rate begins to pick up and I can feel his body tense. “Why would you ask that?” he asks me shifting upward so that I am now right by his head. That really helps my fear, I think sarcastically.
“I asked because I am afraid of what would happen,” I whisper softly knowing he could hear me.
He releases a sigh and tightens his grip on me. “Payton if I were to see again nothing would change; I would love you just as much as I love you now, maybe more. I love you and nothing will change. I hate to break it to you but you are stuck with me forever. Never getting rid of me. Stop worrying, I have never felt this before and it’s real, so don’t doubt it. I love you no matter what,” he says and I smile brightly feeling my heart melt.
“I love you too,” I reply simply leaning up and kissing him. He kisses me back and the kiss quickly turns passionate as he runs his tongue over my lip and I part my lips allowing his tongue into my mouth. Our bodies are pushed up against each other and the kiss gets steamy.
