             Preface

           One minute. That’s all it takes. One minute and your life can change forever, leaving you with no power to fix it. People say things are already destined to happen and we are fated to live our lives in a particular way, the way God has planned it. However, they neglected to mention how cruel and mean fate truly is. Things happen for a reason. But why do bad things happen to the good? It makes us strong, but why must we be so weak before we can be strong? Why must these bad things happen?
           Why am I poor? Why was my father abusive before he got up and left us? Why am I so unconsolidated? Why am I not pretty? Why must life be so hard? What did I ever do to deserve this? And last but not least, why did some boy choose to step into our school and open fire in our halls? I know his mind was elsewhere, and he was slowly losing grip of reality, but why target Reece Collins in hopes for his death. Reece, the most popular guy in school, the star quarterback, best pitcher and star track runner, he has money, the looks, and a perfect family. It's amazing in comparison to my life, and although he's a jock, I’ve heard he is one of the nicest guys out there. He volunteers at soup kitchen and does many other kind things. Why would anyone want to kill him? Yes, people are jealous of him, but jealousy is no reason to take a life. I don’t know how he is, though; no one tells me this type of thing. Last I remember he was being put in the ambulance with the paramedics trying to stop the bleeding and trying to save him. Now I have no clue. No clue if he's alive, or dead.
          I don’t have a crush on Reece or anything of the sorts; I merely admire him and wish I had his life. I have never even spoken a word to him. I’ve only seen him when his pictures are all over school or I catch a glimpse of him in the hall, the cafeteria, or the AP classes we have together. All I can say about him is he isn’t ugly by any means. My life consists of school, work, volunteering at the hospital and home. What a brilliant life.
