Chapter Eleven
Reece's POV
I will admit that saying I did not need her help was not the best idea, not in the lease, but I will not do that again. It was dumb, dumb, dumb and it seriously hurt. On the bright side, which I have slowly been gaining back the ability to look on the bright side, at least it did not go as bad as the first time I tried to walk. That went bad and made my mood pretty awful.
****Reece's first walk****
"Alright Reece you can do this," Tia the nurse tells me as she holds my arm and helps me walk forward leading me.
The feeling of wanting to walk and not knowing where you’re going, where you’re at, and what's around you. Not being able to see is like being stuck in a life time of playing Pen the Tail on the Donkey. It sucks and is kind of scary.
"Now we are going turn," Tia says as she guides me around a corner. "Here," she says as she grabs my hand and lays it on a cool wall. "This is one wall," she adds and I nod. "Try by yourself now. This hall has nothing in the way as long as you walk along the wall. Let it lead you and all of your other senses," she says as her hand slips from my arm.
Taking a deep breath I step forward trying to use my hearing and touch as I slide my hand down the wall and I feel confident taking steps forwards. I allow it to lead me down the wall and I start to get the hang of it. My hand suddenly falls and I move my hand around the edge and realize I've reach the corner. "Corner?" I ask turning my head where Tia feet stop walking.
"Correct," she says. "This hall is tricky there are things in the way, do you want try it on your own?" She asks. It wasn't that hard last time so why not?
"Sure, I'll give it a go," I say as I shrug my shoulders. Taking a deep breath I take a step forward with my arms stretched in front of me as I try and feel around.
I take another step forward and then a sharp pain hits my waist causing me to groan. A hand grabs my arm and pulls me back and to the left.
"That was a bed," she says simply and I groan cussing under my breath. She carefully guides me and then lets me take the lead until trip over my own feet.
She holds me steady. "I'm done for today," I state, I am so sick of this. I cannot do anything by myself. Heck I cannot even pee by myself! When I try to walk I run into walls.
*****present******
So that is how my first walk went, good until I began walking into things. When I walked with Payton it was actually kind of fun. To be honest Payton is actually nothing like I thought she would be. She is really feisty and sarcastic, but she is also really nice and kind.
I kind of like her even though I don't exactly know what she looks like. I remember little hints of what she looks like, bit that’s all. Yesterday with her was really fun, I love fighting with her it’s the only entertainment I get. Everyone walks in freaking egg shells around me.
