Chapter Forty-Nine
Reece’s POV
Ms. Rose is a kind, very funny woman who is so helpful and nice. While she and Payton chatted I could feel the changing in how Payton was talking. She seemed happy like she is when she talks to her mom and sister. I have decided not to tell Payton about the doctor appointment until I know for sure. I don’t want get her hopes only for them to be crushed. For me I am feeling the same way, I wish someone wouldn’t of told me until after I knew for sure but that’s impossible.
Payton snuggles deeper into my arms as we sit on the couch in her sister’s room, while Riders lies at my side. I hold her tightly to me loving the feel of having her in my arms. Her mom, who I have yet to meet officially, it’s been a little hectic, had to go home and pick up some things. I know it’s pushing six in the morning and I can hear the rhythmic breathing of Lila, with the slight shallowness here and there.
Now, I’m not running on zero hours of sleep, I was able to sneak a quick nap here and there. Payton on the other hand has been wide awake. Right now as she snuggles into my arms with her sweet head on my chest I can feel the way her body is breathing and working that she is still awake. I am kind of starting to feel like, that maybe she thinks if she closes her eyes and goes to sleep she will wake up and Lila’s gone or it was all a dream.
“Angel, why don’t you rest those eyes of yours?” I whisper to her breathing in the fruity smell of her hair. She shifts in my arms and I hear a sigh escape her lips.
“I can’t if I do, who knows what’ll happen,” Payton complains back. I know she is worrying, but I wouldn’t let anything happen.
“Nothing will happen angel,” I whisper in an attempt to soothe her fears. I gently rub her arm with my hand as I hold her.
“I can’t Reece, I’ll wait until my mom gets back and then we can go. I want talk to your mom about something anyways,” she replies to me. I release a sigh. It doesn’t look like I am going to win this battle. Why does she want to talk to my mom?
“Alright,” I say simply not bothering to ask why. I just figure it’s personal and if she wants me to know she will tell me.
“You can take another nap if you would like too,” she says as I feel her draw light circles on my chest, leaving a trail of tingles.
“Are you sure, angel?” I ask leaning my head back with a light smile on my face.
“I’m sure,” she confirms as she continues drawling light circles on my chest.
“I love you,” I say in a sleepy voice.
“I love you too Reece,” she replies and I smile as I tighten my grip around her and shut my eyes, turning off my brain.

“He’s really good looking,” a voice says and I keep my eyes shut tightly thinking that I am just hearing voices.
“I know mom,” Payton’s sweet voice says in a whisper.
