Chapter Thirty-Four
Payton’s POV
Sitting my book bag down on the messy floor of my room I walk happily over to the closet and search for some clothes to wear on my date! After school today I swung by the hospital for an hour talking to Ms. Rose and seeing Lila. Once I was done I rushed home to get ready for my date.
I search through my very messy closet. Note to self: Clean room! This is so hard! I don’t have anything to wear. I guess it really doesn’t matter I just want to wear something nice to make myself feel better. I release a sigh as I grab my best pair of blue jeans and then the nicest top I have, which is a pretty white dress top that is off the shoulder on one side and in the other it joins together. It is very flattering I just never have a reason to wear it. Carry the two articles of clothing in my arms I walk over to the dresser where I fish out the best underwear I own hoping it’ll give me a confident boast.
I carry the clothes into the bathroom as my hand shake a little as my nerves begin to fuel up. Once I lay my clothes down on the back of the toilet I strip out of my cloths and turn on the warm water trying to get it right. My hands are already beginning to sweat a lot as my nerves get worse. Stepping inside I try to let the warm water soothe my nerves and clear my mind from all the bad what if’s that are floating through it.
I still shaky though, I’ll live with it. I am so excited for the date I don’t care where he takes me or what we do. We could sit in his den for all I care; I just want to be with him. Once I am clean I shut off the water and step out of the shower wrapping a towel around me. Using the other towel to ring out my brown curls and then toss the towel aside. I pick up my hair brush and pull to through my brown hair over and over again removing the tangles. The curls become looser so that my curls are wavy and not that curly. It actually doesn’t look that bad, kind of pretty. With the towel wrapped around me I dry myself off and then pull on my underwear.
I quickly brush my teeth and then tug my jean on, and then I pull my top on over my white bra. I smile brightly as I look into the mirror! Damn I am impressed! I have never been able to make myself look so good! Turning on my bare feet I head back to my bed room. I sit on my bed as I pull on some socks and my worn shoes.
Knock, knock
I hear from the front door, so I quickly grab my purse and phone rushing to my bed room door, flipping the lights off with a shaky hand. I rush to the front door not really know who to expect and with my sweaty shaky hand I twist the knob and open it revealing Conner standing there with his hands stuffed into his pockets. He also has one of those black drivers’ hats causing me to smile.
“Hey Conner!” I say as I step out beside on shutting the door behind me. My mom is at work and knows where I am going so I don’t need to worry about that.
“Hello, Miss. Jennings. You carriage a waits,” Conner says with a goofy accent and bows extending his hand to Reece’s camero.
