A Flower a Day

Summary: Rosalind catches the attention of a secret admirer and begins receiving a flower a day.

Third-Person POV
Rosalind let out a heavy sigh as she stared down at the red rose in her hand.

"Ah, another gift from your secret admirer I presume?" Robert teased.

"Sunday rosemary, Monday primrose, Tuesday rose of Sharon, and today a single red rose."

"A romantic and a comedian," jested Robert.

She squinted, oblivious to how he found humor in the matter. "How so?"

"Your name, Rosalind."

"Oh, of course, how original. I thought they would've given up by now but it seems they're quite persistent. Unfortunately for them, I have little interest in such sentiment."

Knock Knock!

Rosalind quickly straightened out her dress and looked in a nearby mirror to fix her hair. Robert gave her an puzzled yet amused look.

"I thought you had little interest in such sentiment, dear sister," he sniggered.

Rosalind shushed him and swiftly opened the door to their visitor.

"Sorry Miss Lutece, I forgot I had something else for you. It's a telegram, your eyes only," winked the courier.

"A telegram? From who?"

"Read it and perhaps you'll find out." The courier turned and disappeared just as quickly as he had arrived. Rosalind peered down at the words on the piece of paper in her hands.

Dearest Madam Lutece,

Have you received my flowers? I do apologize if I've caused you any distress. I've admired you from afar for so long and this is one of the only ways I know how to show my deepest affection. Would you do me the honor of accompanying me to lunch at the Blue Ribbon tomorrow at noon? Feel free to give me your answer via telegram, or if you wish you can find me at [L/N] Flowers.

Yours truly,
[Y/N] [L/N]

"[L/N] Flowers? Isn't that just up the road?" Robert peered over her shoulder to read the message as well. "A florist? Who would've guessed?" He asked rhetorically.

"How did I not manage to put that together? I must be slipping," Rosalind placed a hand to her forehead. Surely she wasn't becoming ill?

"Rosalind, with all due respect, you've been acting like a giddy little school girl since you started receiving these little gifts."

"Perhaps I'm growing a little sentimental," muttered Rosalind as she went to grab her coat.

"Where are you going?" asked her curious brother.

"To pay my secret admirer a visit."

A/N: This oneshot was in my drafts for longer than I would like to admit.
