Mario Kart

The start of another school year, new school and new people. In a week. Were you slightly terrified? Maybe. But you weren't going to think about school today, because today Nico was coming over.

Your parents hadn't come back from their vacation before you did from camp so Nico volunteered to stay with you till they did come back. He said he'd be here at 4. You glanced at your watch for the third time in the last two minutes, feeling fidgety.

Finally the doorbell rings, you jump off the sofa and race to the door, pull it open and launch yourself at him. You hugged him tight your face over his shoulders.

Which was when you noticed Nico standing by your gate a look of shock on his face.

Who the hell were you hugging then?

You pull back to stare at a very confused looking guy in uniform. 'Your uh pizza is here' he says

'Oh, oh my gosh. I ordered pizza...' You could hear Nico on the floor behind the pizza guy dying of laughter as you tried to explain what was going on to the delivery guy. 'uh, I just...' You felt your ears heat up 'I thought you were someone else'

The guy laughs 'no problem, that will be £5.50 though'

You pull out a wade of money, handing it to the guy. 'Thanks...' Nico walks up to you, tears streaming down his red face.

'That...was beautiful'

You grab his hand pulling him into the house, pizza box in hand ‘shut up.’

2 days later

You and Nico had just finished another movie, snugly eating your popcorn in a blanket and pillow fort the both of you made in the middle of the living room.

‘So, now what?’ Nico ask

‘We could play some video games.’ You suggest

Nico turns to you, eyes gleaming ‘Yes.’

You walk over to the cabinets under your T.V, pulling out a bunch of video games. ‘I think we should play Mario Kart.’

Nico grabs one of the controller next to the T.V and settles back down in the little fort an arm around you as you lay your head on his chest.

You sighed a happy sigh, as the game began. ‘Who are you going to pick? Your usual, Bowser?’

‘Nah, I think I’ll go for something different this time.’

You turn towards Nico ‘really? Who?’ on the screen Nico scrolls past all the characters, stopping at Peach. ‘No.’ you laugh

‘Yup, I think she really reflects my personality.’

‘Your very manly personality.’ You ended up choosing Yoshi.

As the races got more intense, the two of you got more competitive, leaning closer towards the T.V screen and away from each other.

Both you and Nico were tied, this final race was the tie breaker. 

You were going around a bend but lost control, causing you to skid off course and allowing Nico to race forward, past the nearing finish line, winning.

‘YES!’ Nico shouts excitedly ‘Finally, I have the title of Ghost AND Mario Kart King.’

You fold your arms leaning back down on the pillows and blankets ‘I was so close.’

Nico appears above you hair falling across his smiling face ‘Sorry love.’

‘S’okay, I’ll just have to kick your butt next time.’ You push some of his hair out of his face, tucking the loose strands behind his ear.

‘You can try, I think using Peach helps me win.’

‘No, it was just luck.’ You say pulling him down, towards your lips

‘You wish.’  He whispers before capturing your lips in a slow and wanting kiss, tangling his hands in your (h/c) hair. You trailed your hands along his face, slight stubbles greeting your fingers.

 You finally pull back, breathless ‘best two out of three?’
