Pirate AU

Nico’s POV

Slipping on my boots, I quietly grab my bag from underneath my bed. I glance around my room one last time before opening one of the double doors by a fraction to make sure that there is no one else in the hallway. But this causes the door to groan loudly.  Heart pounding, I slip between the small gap made by my heavy doors as quietly as possible. I couldn’t get busted now. I had planned my escape for so long, I couldn’t let it slip through my fingers. Silently I make my way across the dimly lit hallways, navigating through the relentless hallways.

Luckily so far I hadn’t seen any of my palace guards due to the huge banquet Father was hosting. I had been asked to stay in my room. Shocker. But that doesn’t matter because it has given me the perfect time to escape this prison. Just as I was about to turn into another hallway I caught a glimpse of a guard and quickly hid back, blending into the shadows. As the guard walks down the other side of the hallway I slip past that hallway towards the small window at the end. This window faces the royal stables at the back of the castle.

Opening my bag I grab a large bundle of rope and tie one end onto the handle of one the windows and let the rest fall onto the outside wall. Hopefully it can take my weight. Throwing my bag over my shoulder I slowly descend down the grey, weatherworn walls of the castle, jumping down the last few feet. Backing away from the castle I break into a run towards the tall grey brick walls surrounding the castle. Rummaging through my bag I pull out two silver daggers. I stab the concrete between two bricks above my head with my right hand and do the same with my left hand and haul myself up.

Once I reached the top of the walls I’m panting. I take a deep breath, this breath of air feels different, lighter and almost joyful. Jumping down I take one last look at what I had called home and run off into the unknown

 Free, I was finally free. Free from that torturous place, where I never belonged. No more being looked at as a mistake, a defect. Away from there I am just another normal person. Now I’d just have to get to a different country. Where Father won’t be able to find me and that means getting onto a ship without getting noticed. After making my way to the docks without getting noticed I looked at all the ships docked. Most were ships from our royal navy.

Except for one on the far end. It looked like a humble merchant ship. I didn’t recognize the flag so I figured it was probably from a different country. I made my way to it softly, there was hardly anyone on the deck of the ship. What was my plan? Let’s just say I had quite a bit of gold with me. I quickly slipped onto the deck and opened the hatch that lead towards the deck below. I got in and ran towards a room with empty barrels. Handy. For once my scrawny body had its’ benefits as I got into one of them. The whole escape finally catching up with me I sigh tiredly as my eyes fall shut.  

 In the meantime…

Your POV

‘Run men run!’ you and your crew race across the docks towards your ship. Your cover as merchants had been blown and were now running back to the ship to head out, it would only be a few minutes before the guards realized that you and your crew were pirates. Your ship had been running low on supplies and you had desperately needed to dock at the closest port, which just so happened to be the Kingdom of Hades.

However pirates weren’t exactly ‘welcomed’ here so you and your crew docked in undercover. It had worked, up till now. Running onto the ship you shout out towards your crew ‘Hoist the sails! Raise the anchor! And let’s get the heck outta here mates! I think we’ve overstayed our welcome’ laughter was heard across the deck as you began to leave the port.

Half an hour later you grab the shoulder of your first in command, Percy. ‘Seriously? You just had to flirt with a general’s daughter?’

Percy smirks and lets out a chuckle ‘Her name is Annabeth’
