Truth or Dare

Today was the first of July, and that meant that everyone was rushing around getting ready for Jason’s 18th birthday. You along with a few others had planned a surprise party for the son of Jupiter that would be held in his cabin.

Right now you were carrying the decorations to his cabin, you were walking across the grounds as Nico came running towards you. He skidded to a stop in front of you.

‘Jason’s coming!’ Nico says, eyes wide with panic.

He grabs the stack of decoration boxes from you ‘Come on, you can hide in his cabin for a while.' He gently guides you into the cabin, placing the boxes on the floor. 'I'll make sure he doesn't get in.'

You smile at him fondly 'I'm counting on it Nikees.' You say as he leaves.

'Now, where should we start?' You mumble to yourself as you looked through the boxes.

Nico had walked out with a huge smile on his face, the birds were chirping, the sun was shining and you (y/n) (l/n) had smiled at him. Nico was blissfully walking towards Annabeth who was with Percy and Piper when he realised the three of them starting at him, well more like smirking at him.

'What?'

Percy's grin only grew ' oh nothing. How's (y/n)?'

Nico beamed 'she's great... Wait, why?'

This time it was Piper's turn to smirk 'the two of you seem to be getting pretty close lately'

Nico's brow creased 'so...?'

'So, when are you going to ask her out?' Annabeth finally ask.

This definitely caught Nico off guard 'what?!'

'Aw, come on Nico. It hurts us watching the two of you trying to hide the way you feel around each other.' Piper laughs

Nico felt his cheeks heat up dramatically 'I... Do not know what you’re talking about.'

Percy outs an arm around Nico's shoulder 'Enough with the secret glances. Ask her out already!'

Nico scowled darkly 'get your hands off me Jackson.'

Percy stepped back, hands in the air 'sorry, sorry.'

Nico sighed 'look, ok maybe I li...like her. Doesn't mean I'm going to ask her out!'

Piper frowned 'why not? She likes you back, I don't see the problem.'

'She's good for you Nico. You smile more around her, you eat more around her and honestly I don't think I've ever seem you laugh so much with anyone else before.' Nico could help but smile a bit at what Annabeth said, he really did feel more alive around you.

'Look, I appreciate the pep talk and all. But I just can't see how someone like her could ever fall for someone like me.'

'Ni-'

'It's fine Percy, look we should be getting ready for Jason's party. I'll go check on Jason, make sure he busy.' With that Nico walked away from the little trio.

Percy turned towards the two girls 'we need a plan.'

Piper smiled 'like an operation-get-(y/n)-and-Nico-together?'

'Exactly.'

Annabeth shook her head, amused 'Nico's gonna kill the both of you.'

The surprise party was going great. Jason had been clueless to the whole deal right until he walked into his cabin.

‘So who wants to play truth or dare?’ Percy pipes up to the group sitting around the room.

‘I do!’ Piper jumps to her feet. You look at the two suspiciously, what were they up to?

‘Alright, sounds like fun.’ Jason laughs ‘Though, we have to make a rule, no over-the-top dares…’

Percy pouted ‘Fine.’ The group sat around the room in a rough circle, some on the bed, some on the chairs and others on the floor as the last of the sun’s rusty orange glow faded behind the hills. You took a seat on the bed between Piper and Nico.

‘So who first?’

‘Well.’ Percy said ‘Since you asked Annabeth, you can ask.’ He slyly winks at her, making sure no one else saw it.

She sighs ‘Ok.’ Annabeth turns towards you ‘(y/n) truth or dare?’

You nervously bit your lip, you were pretty certain that if you picked ‘truth’ she’d ask you who your crush was and frankly you did not want the whole world learning of your little crush on Nico, so you picked dare.

‘I dare you to hold hands with Nico until someone picks you next.’

Your heart stopped.

Around the room murmurs of giggles could be heard as you silently slipped your delicate hand into Nico’s who in turn turned crimson from the neck.

His cold hands made you feel alive, they felt like fire and ice flaming through your body.

‘Who’s next?’ Percy ask

Half an hour and a lot of crazy dares and confessions later, someone had finally picked you. Though you were enjoying the light circles Nico was subconsciously drawing on your hand.

It was Piper who decided to ask you. ‘Truth, or dare (y/n), pick wisely.’

You gulp, Piper could definitely get the truth out of you ‘Uh…tru- no wait, dare. I pick dare.’

Piper smirked ‘I dare you to sit on Nico’s lap for the next hour.’

‘WHAT?’ both you and the child of Hades scream

‘It’s your dare (y/n), you picked your poison. Though I gotta say this seems like a pretty sweet death sentence…’

‘Right…’  that was all you were able to get out as you sat on Nico, thankfully you couldn't see his face, because you were pretty certain you’d die of embarrassment if you did.  

The game moved on.

You were stiff, trying not to move around too much on his lap when you felt hands slide around your waist. ‘Relax (y/n), it’s just me.’ his whisper sent shivers down your spine as you nodded.

Nico’s heart sank, you obviously didn’t want to be with him.

For the third time that night you were picked, this time by Percy. He couldn’t be as bad as Piper could he? You thought to yourself. Oh how wrong you were.

‘(y/n).’ he smiled evilly

‘Yes my dear Perc.’ You laughed

 ‘I dare you to-‘

‘Wait, I didn’t pick dare!’

‘I dare you to either eat a spoonful of ketchup or kiss Nico.’

‘B…but I’m allergic to tomatoes!’

‘Than I guess you’ll be picking the latter?’ he smirks

Nico glared at Percy dangerously ‘Percy, if she doesn’t want to ki-‘

You cut his sentence short by turning around grabbing his face between your hands and kissing him. You didn’t expect his lips to fit in with yours so perfectly, you didn’t expect the kiss to be so intense, but it was and you loved every second of it. Nico wrapped fervently wrapped his arms around your waist pulling you as close to him as he could.

You pulled away for air, staring at Nico, his eyes shining, lips slightly parted.

‘Maybe you do want to kiss me.’

‘Maybe I do.’
