Demigods (Part 3)

I swung my sword at one of the monsters in front of me, piercing its side as it disappeared. Exhausted as I was I had to keep fighting.

For my first quest, this was turning out to be a nightmare. We - me and Percy - had retrieved the stolen item: the Baetylus, a stone that was said to have been endowed with life. Unfortunately the monsters that stole it caught on with us.

‘(Y/n)! Behind you!’ I hear Percy yell. I quickly turn around and stab at the next monster.

‘There’s too many of them Percy!’ I scream at him ‘We’ve got to get out of here!’ I see him nod while fighting an Empousai.

Percy must have called Blackjack because from out of the blue the pegasus swoops down next too me. I was just finishing off another monster when my leg gets stuck in the side of the drain, the monster swings his axe at me and I try to duck it but end up fall. I hear a deafening crack from my ankle as I fall.

I grab at my sword and stab at the Cyclopes upwards, finishing him off which leads to monster dust falling all over me. Great, now I smell like monster and I hurt my ankle and I was really craving some ice-cream. I see Percy running up to me, his shoulder bloody. He grabs my hand pulling me up and as I try to stand pain shoots through my right ankle making me buckle over as Percy helps me get onto Blackjack.

He jumps on up behind me and Blackjack takes off as more monsters fill in the alleyway. I turn towards Percy and ask if he’s still got the stone.

‘Yup.’  He winces in pain ‘What happened to your ankle?’

‘I tripped’ I said sheepishly

‘Aw man, Nico’s gonna kill me!’

I grin up at him ‘we’ll be fine Jackson.’

He pokes me on the shoulder ‘Easy for you to say (l/n), he’s your boyfriend.’

When we finally arrive at camp the sun is just starting to set and we’re met with a worried looking Chiron. We get off Blackjack but I still lean on him for support as we fill Chiron in with what had happened, we had finished talking when I see a mop of black hair running up to us.

I couldn’t help but break into a smile, sure I had only been gone three days but I’d missed him like crazy. When he reaches us, Nico pulls me into a hug lifting me off the ground slightly. At first I laughed but when he put me down I cried out in pain.

Immediately his face turns worried as he rushes to my side ‘What happened to your ankle?’ he puts my arm over his shoulder to carry my weight, turning towards Chiron and Percy he says ‘I’m taking her to the infirmary.’ Before dragging me away from the Big House.

After a while Nico says ‘You know, this would be a lot easier if I carried you.’

I nervously look up at him ‘Ok.’ He scoops me up as if I weighed nothing and began walking towards the infirmary. ‘You know Nico, I could really use some ice-cream right now.’

‘For your leg?’ he asks amusement in his voice

‘No silly, to eat. I got the craving when I hurt my ankle.’

‘So you’re telling me the reason why you hurt yourself while on a quest was because you were craving ice-cream?’

I laughed ‘No, no, no. I had the craving after I hurt my ankle.’

Nico shakes his head, smiling ‘you’re crazy you know that?’

I fiddled with the hair at the nape of his neck ‘Yup!’

Upon reaching the infirmary Nico sets me down on one of the beds, resting a pillow under my ankle just as an Apollo kid comes up to us ‘Nico, you’re going to have to leave. She need her rest, you can see her tomorrow morning.’ Nico opens his mouth to protest but I cut in  

‘It’s ok Nico, I’ll see you tomorrow.’ I say sadly, I had been hoping to spend some time with him. He walks up to me, leans down and places a kiss on my forehead.

‘I’ll be back later.’  He whispers

Later that night, I were still up. Sure my body was exhausted but sleep didn’t come to me. I were waiting for Nico. He snuck in after a while, a tub of ice-cream in hand.

Nico puts down the ice-cream and slips in next to me, his arms around my waist. ‘I missed you.’

I felt my heart thumping through my chest at his words. ‘I missed you too.’ He nuzzles the side of my neck, burying his face in my hair, his breathing steady. I turn my face towards him, looking into his chocolate eyes. I place a light kiss on him soft lips before pulling away. He in return pulls me, if possible even closer, capturing my lips with his again.

When we finally break apart I look up at him smiling ‘So about that ice-cream…’
