While Jungwon and I were walking, we saw a convenience store up ahead of us. Because of the awkward silence, I suddenly hear a stomach grumble come from Jungwon. I look at him and he blushes like crazy, looking really embarrassed.
"It's okay." I giggle softly. "There's a convenience store up ahead." I point to it.
He looks in the direction where I was pointing.
"We can stop by there and get something for you to eat. I bet you're hungry." I suggest.
"It's okay. I don't want us to be late." He shakes his head gently.
"We're still a bit early on time. It's okay. You should eat something. Classes are always quiet, so you don't want more people hearing your grumbles." I tease him.
He looks down at the ground and giggles shyly, his blushing gone down a little bit.
"Let's go, then." He nods his head.
We walk towards the convenience store and walk inside, as we part ways to get our own things. I decided to get some strawberry milkshake for the girls and I, and also an extra one; just in case Jungwon forgot to get his own drink. I paid for the milks separately and found Jungwon by the bread buns. He notices me then looks back at the bread buns, looking really concentrated.
"Are you having trouble?" I speak up.
"Yeah. I don't know which one is good." He furrows his eyebrows, biting his lower lip a little in concentration.
I couldn't help but smile a little. It was kind of cute seeing him concentrated, with his dimple popping out because of him focusing. He's always had these habits ever since we were kids.
"The red bean one is really good. Also the pork one. Get both so you're a bit full. They're pretty big." I help him out.
He listens to my suggestions and gets one red bean and one pork bun. I follow him behind as he walks to the counter and pays using self check-out. Once he was done paying, he bagged his bread buns and we left the convenience store, continuing to walk to the bus stop.
When we got to the bus stop, we sat down on a bench next to each other. He took out his bread buns and began eating them slowly, watching the cars pass by as we waited for the bus to come. He held the bread bun like a hamster having his hands on the bottom of the bread bun holding it up to his mouth.
I tried my best to hold in my smile, but I couldn't help but to break out into one. Jungwon noticed me smiling and he gets shy.
"What are you smiling at, Hyewon?" He looks at me with big eyes.
"Nothing. You just look like a hamster. A guinea pig, too." I admit, smiling widely.
He blushes, also beginning to smile a little.
"Is that a good thing?" He asks me.
"It's a good thing. It's cute." I respond.
He begins to blush even more from my compliment, looking down at the ground in fluster.
"Do you want some, Hyewon? Have you eaten? Are you hungry?" He asks me.
I shake my head. "I already ate, thank you, Jungwon." I reply.
He nods and finishes both of his bread buns. He makes a small pouting noise after he got up to throw away his trash and sat back down and I look at him.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
"I'm thirsty. I forgot to bring water and buy something to drink." He expresses.
My eyes light up. I reach into my backpack and pull out a strawberry milk from the tied up plastic bag, handing it to him. His eyes widen a little and he looks at me with confusion.
"Take it. I bought it just in case you didn't have something to drink." I explain to him.
"Really? Thanks, Hyewon! Can I really take it?" He makes a little gasp noise.
I chuckle quietly. "You can take it. It's for you. I bought it for you." I say.
"Thank you!" He exclaims happily.
He shyly takes the strawberry milk and opens it, slurping it down. He throws the empty box away and sits back down next to me.
"Ahh.." he breathes out, looking bothered.
"Is something up?" I ask him.
"Nothing. I'm just nervous. Lunch will be the worst part. I don't know where I'll sit." He tells me.
"Don't worry about that. You can sit with my friends and I. My friends have some guy friends that sit with us so you won't feel lonely. Just meet me at the lockers before lunch and we can walk into the cafeteria together." I assure him.
He looks at me with kind eyes and a genuine smile.
"Thanks, Hyewon."
"Of course." I respond.
The bus comes and we get on, patiently waiting to get to school.
