Streams of azalea pink, tangerine, and canary yellow with thin strips of azure painted the sky as Amukta and I sat on the rooftop of my apartment.

She and I take a night off studying once a month for this. We watch the sunset at night with drinking hot tea from bags, and she stays over so we can wake up early and drink hot chai made with milk, sugar, and ginger. When the weather gets cooler, we just dress a bit comfier.

"So, what you're telling me, is that you and Atlas have hung out as friends a couple times."

"It was JUST COFFEE! We talked, caught up. Stuff like that." Her phone went off. "Pick it up. It's Michael. Put it on speaker." She hit answer and turned on the speaker. "Hey Michael!" I greeted.

"Arabella! Guess what? I'm in Newton right now." I looked over at Arabella. She just shrugged. She had set a boundary for herself. She was free to be friends with him, but would not go further with him. "What are you guys doing?" he asked.

"We're on Arabella's roof right now. If you buy yourself a hot tea, you can come up here." Amukta challenged. He'd be here in twenty. He comes here often on business trips, so we get together often.

Michael is the same lively person he was in high school. He's matured, of course, but his charismatic personality has remained almost untouched. He could walk into a tense room with a smile and instantly lighten the mood.

"I'll be there in fifteen." He quickly hung up without a goodbye.

I lay my head on Amukta's shoulder, and instantly she leans into me. I go on my phone to see a text from Atlas.

What are you doing right now?

I'm with Amukta.

Sorry bud.

Michael's coming soon.

I know he told me he was in town we met up yesterday.

You guys still talk??

Yea, not that often but we still do talk.

Anyways i wanted to know if i could join you guys on the roof.

if you don't mind i don't wanna intrude or anything like that yk?

I look over at Amukta and show her the text.

"SAY YES," She encouraged me. She had a suggestive look on her face.

"We are friends. I wouldn't jump into anything more this quick," I reminded her. She knew that, but I know she's glad we're friends.

"We all know that, but watching the two of you get along seven years later is nice. Neither of you were in the right headspace in high school so the fact that you can be friends is nice. Even if it's been seven years, working out what happened is important for reflection and self growth. There's no time frame to that."

Yea sure!!

I sent him my address and told him to meet us on the roof.

"Is Michael staying the night here?" I asked Amukta. She shrugged her shoulders.
