Chatper 8: Hints or clues?

The next day at Lee's production service

Jungkook spent his whole night thinking about what Yugyeom told him about his mom and dad at the gambling house. Nights actually. He's thought of the ways to figure out his mom's case, and Lee's production seems to be the first place he can think of. Maybe he gets something.

Maybe.

"Jungkook" Chansung stands up from his table as he waves his secretary to leave the room. No greeting or replies are heard from Jungkook.

"What brought you here?" his dad asks.

"Oh I have a few questions for you." Jungkook says as he looks at the trophy shelf on his dad's office.

"Ask away." Chansung sits down and lay his back on the seat.

"So I happened to walk around a week ago. You know around Noi Market. I was walking further in the neighbourhood." Jungkook stops talking to see his father's reaction.

His dad keeps straight face before he asks "And your question is?"

"I passed by this restaurant called Ming's and got some dirt about you." Jungkook replies, and Chansung does not even flinch.

"And?" Chansung asks.

Jungkook pokes his tongue in his inner cheek. His blood is boiling seeing how careless his dad is hearing about the neighborhood and the restaurant. It's where his mother died for god's sake.

"Did you or did you not cheat on mom with a whore who is a regular in that gambling house with you?" Jungkook says.

Chansung takes a deep breath. "Well Jungkook. If you really want to know the truth, yes, I did cheat on your mom." making Jungkook's eyes grow bigger. How can his father say that like it's not a wrong thing to do.

"Why?" Jungkook asks feeling it's hard to breath.

"Since you came all the way here to ask the unnecessary questions. I'll do you a favor." Chansung crosses his legs and connect his hands together looking in Jungkook eyes

"I never loved her." Chansung says casually.

'What?' Jungkook thinks. Did he hear it right?

"What did you just say?" Jungkook asks. He cannot believe what he's hearing.

"I. Never. Loved. Her." Chansung emphasizes every word which feel like they are knifes that cut Jungkook's heart open.

"W-Why did you get married with her then?" Jungkook raises his voice louder. He feels the urge to punch his dad in the face. He really meant it?

"To be honest, you were an accident. Grandpa Jeon and your uncles were too powerful for me to ditch your mom. They helped me with my production company too." Chansung says.

The words were spoken too casually like it's the most common thing in the world. It happened so quick. Jungkook can only keep quiet at this moment trying to process everything.

He's been trying to convinced himself that his father could not get over his mom's death. That's why his father did not want anything to do with the Jeon including Jungkook because it reminds him of his wife. That's why he gave Jungkook up to the Jeon. Somewhere in his heart still had this little hope that if he can figure out who is the reason of his mom's death, his dad might be a little nicer to him. His dad would be less cold.
