"The Inevitable Thing"

JENNIE's POV

"So guys..Uhmm would you like to grab a snack first before we head back home?"

"Jisoo-yah, would you come with us? Please?" I heard Lisa asked sweetly at the woman in front of me which snapped me back to my senses. I wasn't aware that I completely zoned out again, just staring intently at her.

Jisoo smiled sheepishly as she turns her gaze at our hands and my eyes widened in utter embarassment the moment I realized that I was still holding it. I intuitively withdrew her hand which I regretted instantly.

I don't know why but the moment I let go of her hand, I suddenly felt the coldness of the world.

And for unknown reason I suddenly crave for her warmth.

It's not the kind of warmth that fills your carnal or sexual needs.

Rather, it's the kind of warmth that gives you a sense of security..

A sense of home..

"I'm so sorry." I uttered shyly at her but Jisoo just flashed her sweetest smile and spoke with such empathy. This woman must be really sensitive and considerate over someone's feelings.

"Oh.. You have nothing to say sorry about."

" Like you, I also get anxious meeting new friends too." she said chuckling and we both smiled while Lisa watched us with a knowing look.

"Yeah Chu, my friend here must have been completely smitten by you." Lisa commented smirking.

" Hey!" Jisoo and I both react defensively but Lisa just shook her head smiling and walked ahead of us. She then stopped and turned at us and finally speak.

"Are you guys going or what?" she asked teasingly at us but I can see the sadness in her eyes which she tried hard to conceal.

"So Unnie, tell us more about you." I heard Lisa asked suddenly the moment we settled and ordered our food. We just decided to eat at the cafe inside the University since Jisoo still has her shift from work tonight, based on what I heard from Lisa.

"Unnie?" I asked clueless, repeating what Lisa just said.

"Oh sorry I forgot to tell you Jen-Jen, Jisoo Unnie is older than us"

"She's supposed to be in her third year by now but she didn't pursue College right away due to some unexpected events." Lisa uttered a matter-of-factly which made me turn my attention at the woman who's timidly watching us exchange conversation. She smiled coyly at us and answered.

"Yes. Sad to say, I have to save money that time and I don't have the luxury to go to College." Jisoo uttered shyly but Lisa just patted her shoulder and speak.

"Unnie, that is something you shouldn't be ashamed of."

"To be honest, I think you're kinda cool to me." Lisa uttered smiling at the timid woman.

"Jen and I, we never experienced that kind of struggle in life and we couldn't imagine what you went through. So yeah, your life is kind of cool and inspiring for me." she commented genuinely and it was the only time Jisoo released a heartfelt smile.

"Well...Uhhmm..Thanks."

"I don't usually get that kind of reaction from other people that I met before."

"That's why meeting new friends usually makes me really anxious." Jisoo confessed shyly which felt like a prick to my heart. I saw how Lisa's expressions instantly turned from smiling to totally upset which is understandable.
