As he approached U.A. High School, Deku figured he should probably walk the final stretch to avoid suspicion. As U.A. entered his sights, he leaped down from the rooftops and walked towards the doors of the prestigious school. He noticed students walking towards the school, no doubt wanting to take the entrance exam as well, and started taking notes of their quirks in case they were his opponents. Most quirks noted were heteromorphic, or mutant-type quirks, in which the wielder of the quirk is permanently affected by their quirk. He did take note of a few other quirks, one of which was an emitter-type quirk owned by a brunette girl, who saved a fellow contestant when he fell over by causing him to float. He entered the building shortly after that, and took his seat in the assembly hall.
Just before the rules and such were announced, Deku noticed someone he knew. And he was not happy. The blonde and volatile hair, the permanent scowl, there was no denying who it was. Katsuki Bakugo, the one who had pushed Deku to commit suicide and almost succeeded. Deku was pissed to see him taking the exam. He didn't deserve the honour of being called a hero. Deku clenched his fists in anger, but thankfully the presentation began before Deku could do anything stupid. He sat back and listened to what Present Mic had to say.
Present Mic explained the rules of the practical exam, going through the booklet that each participant had in minimal detail. He announced that the students would have to destroy robots in a model city to earn points, and that the tougher the robot, the more points you earned. However, Present Mic said that there were only three robots that would earn points, despite four robots being mentioned in the booklet. Deku wasn't the only one who noticed this, as another participant spoke up and asked. He spoke for a long time about "the honour of the school" or something like that, before he let Present Mic answer. He said that the fourth robot wasn't worth any points and was best worth ignoring. Deku wasn't fazed. U.A. wouldn't put a fourth robot in for no reason. He suspected it was going to be some sort of final enemy, but given how little information he was given, all he could do was plan.
After the presentation, all the participants were taken outside to prepare for their exam. The exam area was blocked by a huge door that would open when the exam started, but Deku suspected that they wouldn't be told when the exam would start. This exam was meant to display how useful of a hero you would be, and a true hero should always be ready to head out and stop crime on short notice. So when the doors opened, Deku rushed out, pulling his staff from his pocket and expanding it so that he was ready for combat. As Present Mic had said, there were indeed three types of robot in the zone, but none could hold their own against Deku. Deku had defeated numerous robots, when he heard, "Hey, what are you kids waiting for? Some kids already got 18 points!" Deku also heard the sound of explosions shortly after, meaning Bakugo had just got involved. Gritting his teeth, he focused on the robots and counted their points. After he had gathered a considerable lead, he decided to prepare for the fourth robot. He hadn't seen any yet, meaning his theory of a "final boss" was becoming increasingly likely.
Suddenly, there was an explosion at a nearby street block. Deku looked over, expecting to see the fourth robot. And as he'd expected, the fourth robot was definitely meant as a final boss. It was roughly 10 stories tall, and was going on a rampage. Everyone was running from it and screaming in fear; an understandable yet useless reaction. A loud speaker indicated that there was five minutes left of the exam, and that they should put all of their effort into these last five minutes. Deku was about to jump down and destroy a few more robots in the chaos, when his eye caught upon the brunette girl he had seen earlier. When the robot emerged, it had caused a large amount of rubble to spray outwards, and her foot had gotten stuck underneath the rubble. "Her quirk could easily save her," Deku muttered to himself, "but given the current circumstances, her mind is focused on self-preservation and isn't thinking straight." After a few moments thought, he jumped down to street level and ran towards her. He pushed his staff underneath the rubble and pushed down on it. The resulting force moved the rubble off of the girl, allowing her to escape. Checking his watch, Deku knew there was only one minute left, so he climbed to the top of a building and waited for the final siren to go off.
Meanwhile...
"Huh. That's...interesting," a dull and bored voice said. "How did a quirkless kid score so highly?" "I must admit, this intrigues me to," admitted a lighter, bouncier voice. "What do we know about this boy?" "Nothing," confessed a feminine voice. "On his application paper, he admitted to nothing other than his name and being quirkless." "I would quite like to have a chat with this boy," said the small voice. "Have him called here as soon as you can."
