Midoriya walked down the stairs to the dorm common room, bags under his eyes and a tired moan on his lips. He thought his tiredness was pretty obvious to onlookers but evidently, they didn't get the message.
"Teacher!" Iida came sprinting towards him, arms firmly glued to his sides. "Is it true you dueled with Bakugo last night? Tell me it isn't so?" A group of other students stood close by, trying to hide that they were listening in on the conversation.
"Iida, it is true." Deku didn't even try to hide it. "Bakugo had some things he needed to get off his chest and that was the only way he knew how. We both have a week of house arrest and janitorial duties, alongside an apology letter to the principal from Bakugo."
"That's all?" Kirishima whispered, completely unaware of how loud his voice was.
"Yes, that's all," Deku called over, slightly startling the group members. "I won't be talking about this anymore, so don't ask me about it, alright?"
"Yes sir." The students didn't even hesitate to answer, and though it was due to his role in their development, Deku was saddened slightly that they had been conditioned to react like that.
"What are you going to do in terms of the internship assembly? Mina asked.
"I'll go, but he won't." Deku gestured over to Bakugo, who had surprisingly already started sweeping the floors. "He'll stay back and continue his punishment whilst I go and create notes on how internships work, what they consist of, et cetera. I'll then relay the information to him. You cannot tell him about the internships until his punishment is served."
"And the supplementary Provisional License lessons?" Todoroki piped in.
"He'll begin attending once his sentence is served." With that, Deku grabbed a duster and began to clean.
"Well, we'll be waiting," Ururaka said with a smile, before heading off outside, the rest of Class 1-A in close pursuit.
A short time later, as Deku and Bakugo were cleaning the kitchen area...
"Your movements are too flashy," Deku called over to Bakugo.
"What?" Bakugo said, a slight edge to his voice.
"I'm saying you're sacrificing practicality in exchange for flashiness. For example, your Howitzer Impact. It's extremely powerful, don't get me wrong. But whilst you're spinning, it must be extremely difficult to focus on your target."
"Hmm... alright." Bakugo turned away from Deku to focus more on cleaning the kettle. "Just don't think I'm going to take all your advice, Deku."
Later...
"What's all this dust, Bakugo?" Mineta asked, a smug look on his face as he wiped his finger across the kitchen countertop.
"THAT WAS DEKU'S JOB!" Bakugo lashed out.
"Man, that maths class." Kaminari was looking even more confused than normal. "I swear the people who invent these equations are crazy."
"The internships," Jiro began. "We're supposed to get a placement using connections from the work experience program. What if we didn't make any?"
"First the exam and now this? You're getting left behind Bakugo," Deku joked, the humor coming easier to him than before.
"SHUT UP, DEKU!" Bakugo yelled.
"You know, a small thank you would be nice," Deku said, throwing a wad of papers in Bakugo's direction.
"The fuck..." Bakugo began.
"Notes on the internship assembly," Deku answered, emptying the bins. "Since I was the only one of us allowed to be there, I made some notes so that you wouldn't fall too far behind. You're welcome." And with that, Deku walked off, a trash bag slumped over his shoulder.
