Chapter 47 - Desperate Measures

"These are FILTHY!" Overhaul cried out, grabbing the seals in his chest and changing them into high-density spikes before launching them back at Noire.

He easily dodged them, closing the distance between him and Overhaul in the process. "The problem with people who rely so heavily upon their quirks..." he began, sprinting the final stretch to Overhaul, "...is that you can't defeat the quirkless without your quirk." He dashed below Overhaul before launching himself up at Chisaki, landing a devastating uppercut to his jaw and launching him backward.

Before he could continue the assault, Sir Nighteye appeared beside him, chasing after Overhaul's silhouette. "I'll deal with Overaul," he called over his shoulder. "You focus on Eri and Lemillion!" Noire gave him a nod of confirmation before dashing to Lemillion and the child he had sacrificed himself to protect.

"Lemillion. Are you still conscious?" A groan of confirmation was all he received, but it was enough. "Alright, lets get you and the girl out of here." He threw one of Nighteye's High Density Seals at a nearby wall, revealing a hidden passage out of the building. He stood Lemillion up, letting him lean against him for support. He then took Eri's hand and they began to ascend to safety.

A sound of flesh being torn apart grabbed Deku's attention. No-one was fighting close enough to gain such a serious injury, other than...

Slowly, Deku turned back to Overhaul and Sir Nighteye's, the latter of which had just been skewered by the former, blood slowly dribbling down the stone spike thrust into his abdomen. The spike quickly retracted, leaving nothing to stem the bloodflow. Sir Nighteye quickly collapsed as his adrenaline gave out.

"Look at that." Overhaul looked down at Sir Nighteye's limp figure. "A man able to see through time, and even he fell before me." He turned to Noire, a sadistic sneer on his face. "What chance has a snivelling whelp like you have against ME?!" With a thrust of his hand, a sea of spears emerged from the granite floor, all thrust towards the group trying to escape. Noire dived back into the room, throwing a seal at the ceiling. The seal hit the ceiling at high speed, shattering it and causing rubble to fall down and obstruct the exit.

"You think a few stones can save them?" The floor rippled like water before erupting into shrapnel and dust. "I will find them, and I will bring them back here and make them submit to me. Then, Lemillion will die, whilst Eri will continue to live. The QES can't survive without her." 

Noire wasn't paying attention to Overhaul as he swerved through the air, almost flying to dodge Kisaki's attacks. He threw more of Nighteye's High Density Seals through the debris. Some of them hit, but none of them caused an injury which couldn't be healed. Explosives and tear gas were meaningless, since Overhaul could destroy them with barely an inconvenience. Anything he did to try and win was instantaneously undone. An unwinnable battle if there ever was one.

"COME ON OUT, ERI!" Overhaul called out the girl, who had begun quivering next to Lemillion after the rubble had sealed them out of the room. "YOU KNOW HE'S GOING TO DIE AGAINST ME! HIS DEATH WILL HAVE BEEN BECAUSE OF YOU! JUST LIKE YOUR FATHER! JUST LIKE NEMOTO! JUST LIKE SIR NIGHTEYE! ALL OF THESE BODIES, CAUSED BY YOU! SO COME ON OUT, AND WE CAN END THIS ONCE AND FOR ALL!"

"Shut up, creep." Noire was having none of it. "You talk a big game, but ultimately you need to work on your throwing arm."

"REALLY?! YOU OF ALL PEOPLE ARE LECTURING ME? YOU KNOW YOU FIGHT A LOSING BATTLE, YET YOU PERSIST ANYWAY! GIVE UP, SAVE ME THE TIME AND EFFORT AND DIE, YOU QUIRKLESS RUNT!" A blast of matter and energy blasted Noire into the wall, a crater forming on impact. He didn't feel it though. Something Overhaul had said had caught him off-guard. His defences had been lowered, and he had been hit right when it mattered.
