When Stain and Deku arrived at their hideout, Deku was amazed that he had actually done that. He was always a moral character, yet he had just helped one of the most dangerous serial killers murder a Pro Hero. And it felt good. He glanced down at his hands, splattered with blood and grimy with muscle tissue and bone marrow. A normal person would have convulsed at the sight of such things, yet he only stared at them.
"Hey kid," Stain called out, a smile on his face, "get yourself cleaned up. Don't want your clothes to be too bloodstained, do we?" Deku washed his hands and clothes, then went up to the rooftop to begin training. There was no equipment on the roof, but ever since Deku had mastered pain ignorance, he had been punching the stairwell's walls, training his endurance. Today he began practicing his kicks and strengthening his leg muscles, when a stray memory wandered into his mind. It was the final day of the school term, and everyone was excited. Their teacher had been discussing career options, when they confessed that he knew all of his students wanted to go to U.A. This memory made his blood boil. All the people in that memory had picked on and bullied him at some point. Deku was angry that he would probably never see those people again, as he would never be able to punish them for what they did. But those thoughts were forgotten when he remembered the U.A. Entrance Exam.
The U.A. Entrance Exam was the largest hurdle when it came to entering U.A. Only the best of the best could get accepted into that school, and wouldn't you know it, the entrance exam was roughly two months away. A now-rare smile grew on Deku's face, an idea formulating in his head. What if he took part in the entrance exam? He would use an alias of course, and forged academic papers, but what would happen then? This could be interesting, Deku thought to himself, eager at the thought of taking the entrance exam, albeit under false pretences. Now, how to convince Stain to let him go?
"Stain, I'm going to take the U.A. Entrance Exam," Deku said the next day, figuring he should be blunt and to the point. "What!?," Stain yelled, surprised at this turn of events. "Why would you want to do that?" Stain could not understand his motives at all. "A test of skill. Consider it a way to prove just how far I've come in the past eight months." The shock had passed, and Stain could see the advantages of having Deku take the exam. He could get a glimpse into the inner workings of the school, and it would be a good way for Midoriya to get stronger. The only issue would be if Deku got caught, but considering his intellectual and analytical skills, Deku already had a plan of action. One that would almost certainly work. "Alright, alright, you've convinced me. You can take the entrance exam, but you will need to change your appearance. This sort of stuff goes on a record, so you need to have a persona, alright?," Stain asked, not being able to identify any major negatives to this scenario. "Of course, sensei, I won't let you down," Deku said, beginning to walk away. Suddenly, Stain called out, "Hey kid." Deku turned around to see Stain smile and say, "call me Stain."
And so two months passed, Deku training overtime in preparation of the exam, pushing his body to the very limits to become the strongest he could. He also went on assassinations with Stain to get some experience of facing real opponents. Something he had noticed when on missions was that Stain would... change when he entered combat. Bloodlust would emanate from him, and his movements would become wild and unpredictable, yet precise and effective. Whenever this happened, Deku would become uncharacteristically scared, his mind telling him to run. When asked about this, Stain would just taunt Deku by saying, "Don't worry, I'll teach it to you... AFTER the exam."
Finally, the day came. Deku had cut his hair short, dyed it white and wore blue contact lenses, so that he would be less likely to be recognised. Despite probably not needing it, he decided to take a weapon to take with him, as he didn't have a quirk and figured he would need something to use other than his intellect. It needed to be something light and flexible, but it couldn't be lethal to avoid suspicion. He eventually decided on a metal staff. It was light, but could have a lot of force behind it. It could also retract to the length of an office pen, making it easy to transport. He said his goodbyes to Stain, promising he would be back before the day was done, and set off the U.A. High School.
