Kyle wasn't used to people disobeying him. Especially minors that came in a week ago. When he first saw Kash, his thoughts exactly were, "she's beautiful." Her jet black hair, with mahogany streaks, her amber eyes, her olive skin. To him, she was mesmerizing. She looks like Zia. He had always been intimidated by Zia,though he never knew why. She rarely talked anything but business, and to see her in battle was a privilege. She was Commanders first preference, and he always favored her. When Aaron introduced the newbie to everyone, Kyle wasn't sure if he should go talk to her. I'm gonna embarrass myself. He always had a way of doing that. When he finally got the nerve to talk to her, he couldn't get the words out. "Hi" he stuttered, "Would you like to sit at our table?" He looked down at his feet, his face blood red. Aaron isn't gonna let this pass. He knew his partner better than anyone. Sure, he was a pain in the behind, but he cared a lot. His ridiculous jokes were what pissed people off the most. But he never seemed to care. Aaron might not have big muscles, but he's tough. Kyle had once seen him hunt down a Taruk by himself. Those things are nasty. That was the only time I've seen him downright mad. And that was because the Taruk had attacked Zia's patrol. He smiled to himself at what had happened that day. Zia was taking out a patrol to hunt, for the food stock was running low. He and Aaron were in the training grounds, practicing some moves. Suddenly, they heard a shrill shriek. Aaron raced out to the forest, with Kyle close at his heels. What has gotten into him? Aaron came to an abrupt stop, and Kyle stopped himself just in time. A group of Taruks, who were like mutant wild dogs, had attacked the patrol. They were jumping and clawing, trying to reach a sensitive area. The other three members in the patrol were fighting with their swords, not daring to come close enough for the poison tailed creatures to give it's deadly dose. But Zia was another story. Her titanium daggers were in her hands, and she crouched, ready to pounce. Five Taruks had surrounded her, and it seemed hopeless. Just as one sprung, she leaped into the air, twisted around, and landed on two Taruks, driving her dagger deep into their necks. Two down, three to go. Another one charged from behind her, but she was too fast, she rolled forwards, and threw her dagger at the Taruks heart. She hit with deadly accuracy. The last one jumped onto her back and tore at her skin. It managed to make four long slashes across her back, before she flipped backwards and pierced it through the brain. She is viscous. Meanwhile, the other patrol members had taken care of their opponents. Just as it seemed like the war was over, the last Taruk, the biggest of them all, pounced on Zia. She was caught of guard. It tore at her previous wounds and she stifled a scream. Before she could do anything, Aaron had thrown his dagger. It pierced the Taruk in the leg. It screeched and ran off into the forest. "Aaron wa-" he began, but it was too late. Aaron waa already disappearing onto the dense undergrowth, hard on its tail. Why couldn't he let it leave? He's gonna kill himself. It's probably a trap. He's going too deep in. He started to follow him, but turned at the sound of a moan. Zia. She was hunched up on the ground, her suit crimson with blood. He decided to help her get to the Medic hall. He reached down to pick her up. She shoved him away.

"I don't need help. Make sure that idiot doesn't kill himself. "

" That idiot will do just fine without me. You, however will not. "

With her still arguing, he picked her up gently and headed to the Medic hall.

He stood patiently, waiting outside the room Zia was being held in. He was getting worried. It had over 40 minutes since Aaron disappeared. He must be deep inside. Lost, even. No one ever goes in that deep. He heard footsteps and turned. Through the distance, he could make out a shape. A human, but something odd about it. As he got closer, he was finally able to make it out. It was Aaron, all bloodied and bruised. He was torn up, with tiny little scratches that looked like thorns. And to Kyle's amazement, Aaron was carrying the Taruk on his back, blood dripping out of its mouth.
