Zia's shrill scream echoed through the hushed crowd. The executor paused for a second, startled. Zia took a split second to recover over her shock, then rushed into action. The executer swung his axe down, just as Zia leaped onto the stage. By luck or whatever it was, in the fray of confusion, the executer missed his mark, bringing the axe a little too the right of Aaron. Zia kicked out, and connected with the brutes cheek. Luke saw what she was doing, and rushed to the boy, untying him. Luke could see the fear in the other boys eyes, as he helped him stand. Poor guy, he thought. Must have been hell for him.
"Thank you, " the boy stammered, his heart racing. Luke ran to the others and pulled off their sacks, then untied their binds. All of them were bloody and suffering. There was a strong, muscular guy that had a look of vengeance on his face, despite being the one with the most gruesome wounds. He's a fighter, alright. The muscular kid glared at him, then stopped when he realized he was helping. But the kid was way too injured, and had lost a lot of blood, leaving Luke with only a dim hope of his survival. As soon as Luke had untied the kid, he staggered over to the first boy. Aaron, I think. Aaron sat shakily at his near death experience, and the muscular kid tried to pull him to his feet, all the while barely managing to stand on his own. Hastily, Luke untied another one of them, glancing over his shoulder. Zia was locked in fierce combat with the executer, despite her injuries. As he finished untying the knots, the guy pushed him away and pulled his sack off. He glanced around then locked eyes with Luke. He nodded a silent thanks, blood dripping from his nose. His shoulder looked the most damaged, his body torn so bad, that Luke had to stop himself from gagging. How does he bear that? A wild fear was certain in his eyes, although he tried to look calm. Poor guys. They must have been through hell. The could barely stand, but he staggered over to the fight, clutching his ropes. God dam! He's gonna kill himself! Meanwhile the muscular guy was still helping Aaron, both of them stumbling from the trauma and blood loss. Luke was about to go help when he realized that there was still one more left. He sheepishly untied her, taking her sack off. He had to stop from gasping. She's beautiful. Even with all the wounds and blood, and despite the fact that she looked like she was about to faint, she was mesmerizing. Her raven hair with a hint of mahogany at the tips, was falling to her shoulders. Her slender, lithe body looked like it might topple over at any second. Her soft, amber eyes met his, before she slumped over in his arms. He caught her just in time, blushing from head to toe.

Zia threw punches and kicks like a maniac, her wounds disabling her to do any real harm. The executer was caught off guard at first, but then he easily dodged her attacks. With a final attempt, she threw her make-shift weapon, a rock the size of her fist. It his his eye with deadly accuracy, and he was blinded. He shrieked out in pain, and stumbled backwards. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Luke helping the others and Aaron still rigid with fear. Before she could register it, the guy was back on his feet, swinging his axe. He swung it over his shoulder, ready to strike it down. But someone pulled the axe out of his hands from behind. The man turned around, confused. He met the fiery green eyes, just as the newcomer swung the axe, taking the executer down, once and for all.
Zia grinned. She couldn't help it. After so long without any sense of safety or familiar faces, it was so good to see someone she knew.
"Ian! " she shouted. He grinned back at her, right before he fell. Zia laughed for the first time, then realized that he was hurt badly. She ran to his side, and checked his wounds. He rolled in and out of consciousness, pain obliterating him. He needs a doctor, he's lost too much blood. She was frantic as she looked up and caught sight of the others. Luke had the newbie in his hands, and Kyle and Aaron were staggering too, faint with pain. Right about then, did Zia realize how desperate their situation was. Four extremely injured people, who could barely walk and lost too much blood. One mildly injured and another one who couldn't fight. We're so doomed. The crowd still watched in awe at the strange turn of events. The last person Zia expected to see caught her eye. The old man! He frantically beckoned her from the side of the platform, motioning her to follow. She tried to get Ian to his feet, but realized he was out cold. So instead, she resorted to dragging his arms. She grunted with effort, heaving and pulling at him, her ribs threatening to break. She reached Luke and Kashmir, and told Luke to help the girl to the old man. He nodded in understanding, his face a deep cherry red as he carried the unconscious girl off the platform. Zia struggled with all her might, and dragged Ian to the very edge of the platform, his blood soaking her clothes as well. Luke carried Kash into a stone cave, like the one Zia had first woken up on, then after laying her on a cot, ran back out to help with Ian. To Zia's surprise, Luke hoisted Ian's motionless body with little difficulty, leading him back to the cave and placing him besides Kash. Zia turned, her labored breathing coming in gasps. I've taken too many hits. Kyle half dragged and half carried Aaron, staggering with dizziness from loss of blood. Zia limped to help them, and pulled Aarons arm over her shoulder, helping Kyle balance the weight. They edged to the end of the platform, and Zia could hardly stand. Suddenly, the murmuring in the crowd stopped, as someone pushed their way to the front. Please don't let it be who I think it is. She pleaded silently. Zia hastily handed Aarons limp body to Luke, who carefully hoisted him up. Zia turned, just as a whip cracked across her face, cutting across her eye. The chiefs daughter stood in front of her, a sharp whip in her hands. She glared at Zia, then finally spoke.

"You have destroyed my sacrifices! " she spat, with the hatred in her voice unmistakable.

" They were mine! My kingdom! You have no right to live! " the girl almost screeched. She cracked her whip again, but this time someone caught it before it hit Zia. Zia saw the girls jaw go slack with shock, and turned. She gasped with shock. Kyle caught the iron whip single handedly, blood dripping from his palms. But that's not what surprised her. Kyle's normal dark brown eyes had turned blue. Not just any blue, but the color of raw electricity, burning. They glowed, as a slight spark blew, then suddenly, his veins were no longer carrying blood, but current. His veins glowed an unbelievable shade of blue, getting brighter and brighter. Zia shielded her eyes at the intensity of the raw electricity that ran through him. There was a sudden burst of light, and the crowd screamed. When Zia turned to look, she did not recognize the guy next to her. Kyle was no longer mutilated. Blood no longer dripped from him. He wasn't scared. His new eyes were glowing, a small whisk of smoke coming from them. He was somehow dressed in armour, black iron with lines of raw electricity running through it. Zia could hardly believe her eyes. This isn't possible! His armour was tight fitted, and he looked fierce in his new battle form. Zia didn't know if she should be scared or not. This is bad. Very bad. Kyle flicked up a finger, and bolt of current flew out, striking the chiefs daughter. She flew over in a heap, her body sizzling. Zia turned back to Kyle in shock, just as his armor dissolved, and the electricity left his eyes. He tumbled over, and his previous wounds appeared, blood once again dripping. He briefly fluttered his eyes before closing them shut. Zia gasped, his shoulders turning more gruesome by the second, blood clotting as the tissue tried to stop infections. Luke jumped into the stage and helped her carry Kyle's muscular frame to the cave.
Next thing Zia knew, she lay on her back next to Aaron's barely breathing body, as Luke patched them up in the the safety of the cave. Zia barely hit the floor, when she drifted into a disturbed sleep, the long day finally getting to her.
