Aaron winced as Kyle eased him into his legs. He knew he'd be a burden to the mission, but he couldn't just stay there and wait for death. The pain was extreme, and he thought he'd black out again. No. He willed himself to block out the blinding flashes of pain. He slowly eased onto his feet and leaned heavily on Kyle. He can take my weight. He's like two times my size. Then he discovered his next problem. He could barely walk without stretching his back, and pain coursed through him. He managed to walk a few steps, before he just couldn't do it.

"Kyle, stop. "

He did.  "What? Why?"

"The pain. It's too much. I can't do it. Leave me here and go. "

"No. I'll carry you."

"A few seconds ago, you didn't want me along, now you want to carry me there?"

"I want something more for you. Kash might be right. There has to be a cure for you. And Zia. You wanted to help her, remember? And Kash might be in trouble right now. She's barely trained."

"Alright. Fine. I'll bless you with my presence. "

Kyle smirked. He carefully picked him up, as Aaron bite his tongue, trying not to scream at the sudden surge of pain. Kyle carefully hoisted him onto his back, and Aaron nearly fainted from the pain in his shoulder. Beads of sweat lined his forehead. Kyle started walking, slowly.

" You alright? "  Kyle asked.

" Better than ever, my friend. Giddy up! "

Kyle groaned from the weight and made his way into the hallway.

*****************************************

Kyle couldn't believe how much his friend weighed. He sure put on some weight. It took a long time to hoist Aaron onto his back, but they finally managed. As Kyle slowly stepped into the hallway, he listened for signs of the others waking. We'll be done for. He took step by step, slowly and carefully. I don't to walk fast and jerk his body. He'll surely pass out from the pain. The minutes ticked by, and Aaron seemed to get heavier and heavier. Kyle stopped at the stairs. Oh dear.

"What now?" asked Aaron.

"Hold on. Let me think. "  Kyle's mind raced as he searched for other possibilities. Hmmm...

" What about, " groaned Aaron, "the elevators, genius. "

"I'm not stupid. I already thought of that. But those are only for the Commander. "

"Seriously? You're about to run into the forest with a hostage -"

"You're not a hostage. "

" - which are the only two things you're not supposed to do, and you're worried about using the elevator? "

Kyle turned red.

" You're scared of it aren't you?"

Kyle nodded. Aaron winced as a sudden surge of pain coursed through his cheek. Kyle knew they had to move fast. He walked through the hall and made his way to where he guessed the elevators would be. When he finally reached there after a lot of cussing from Aaron, he was drenched in sweat. I can't hold him much longer. He gingerly pressed the button and waited. His fear of compressed spaces had always been there. He never remembered why. Of course, none of us remember anything. He waited anxiously for the elevator, his palms sweaty. Ding! A loud sound echoed through the hallways, and Aaron groaned. Surely they've caught onto us. He hurriedly stepped into the elevator, and the doors closed.

*****************************************

Aaron would have enjoyed the trip in the elevator if it wasn't for the horrible pain. The gashes on his back had reopened. They had ripped when Kyle hoisted him onto his back. He bit his tongue. Kyle already has enough to deal with. I won't burden him with this. The scars on his cheek were burning him. Sharp pain stinged through his nerves, threatening to make him black out. His shoulder was another story. It was really numb, and it weighed him down. Any movement in that area and he'd scream with pain. Aaron could feel Kyle trembling under him. Poor guy. When the elevator opened, Kyle breathed a sigh of relief. However, he was a bit too glad to get out. He walked fast, forgetting the extra height in him, and Aaron hit his head on the elevator doorway. Aaron groaned and blacked out.

*****************************************

Kyle couldn't believe he'd forgotten about him. When Aaron blacked out, his body slumped forward, and Kyle nearly collapsed from the sudden weight shift. He carefully stepped out into the training grounds, and took a deep breath. I hate elevators. He continued walking in silence, panting. Small droplets of sweat started to drip down. He opened a door, and looked out into the moonlight undergrowth that surrounded the facility. He was near the edge of the forest, when Boom!    A huge explosion resonated behind them. Kyle fell down, and Aaron swung of his shoulders. Kyle hit his head on a rock and blacked out.
