Mountains

Gaah! Aaron's stomach turned to liquid when he fell. Who'd expect a hole in the mountains? He fell down screaming, and landed with a huge oomph! on his seat. Ow! The breath was knocked out of him, as he lay on his back trying to get air. His vision cleared after a minute and he blinked into the hole where he had fallen from. Am I dead yet? He saw faces peering down at him.
"He's alive! " he heard a shout from above.

" You sound disappointed. " he mumbled to himself, as he got up slowly. And Kash couldn't summon a dragon for me. He was still marvelling at the huge creature he had seen. It was magnificent. Something heavy landed next to him, and he jumped. Holy mother! Kyle had fallen face first next to him, and Aaron snorted.
"Shut up. " he heard Kyle mumble. Aaron helped him to his feet, and looked up again, just as the rain started. It fell down on them, as they waited for the last two to jump. Kash teetered at the edge, her eyes fearful. The water was soaking her , and Ian was waiting patiently besides her.

"I'll catch you. " Kyle offered.
She nodded, and with her eyes closed, she jumped through the hole. As promised, Kyle caught her in his sturdy arms, and set her down gently. She stumbled, as she slipped on the slowly dampening dirt. They were in some sort of a chamber, big enough to fit about ten people. All around them were tunnels, leading out in all directions. The darkness swallowed them up quickly. We need to move, now.

"Hurry up, Ian! " Aaron shouted, impatiently. Just then, lightning struck the top of the mountain, and Ian fell through. The roof of the mountain was crumbling in, a fire starting and growing bigger by the second. The mountain was collapsing on itself, and closing up the entrance. Oh god dam!

"Run! " he yelled, and pushed the others back, as the rock above them crumbled and started falling. He shoved them into a tunnel, and dove in after them. He vaguely registered the ceiling tumbling down, when a chunk of rock hit him and he blacked out.

Aaron woke up, and had to blink twice before his vision cleared. His head was on someone's lap, and they were stroking his hair gently.
"Are you awake? " someone whispered. Kash?
" Yeah" he mumbled. He got up slowly, and looked around. Ian was off to the side, snoring. Kyle was sprawled on the floor in a great heap. Kash knelt, her eyes concerned.
"Do you feel alright? " she asked, her voice soft.

" Yeah, I'm fine. You? "

" Listen, hero. I'm not the one that got hit on the head with a chunk of rock. "
He shrugged. Fair enough. They were in one of the tunnels, and the entrance into the chamber was completely sealed off by broken rock. Small gaps between the rocks offered some light, which was coming from an evident fire raging in the chamber. Aaron got to his feet, and Kash stood beside him, their shoulders touching.
"We should wake then up. " she offered.
" Yep. "
He walked over to Kyle, and bent down. Then without warning, he yelled in his ear. Kyle bolted upright, and screamed. Aaron fell to the floor laughing. Kyle punched him in the gut, a smile tugging at his lips. Kash smiled, her face lighting up. See? It's nice to make people laugh. Ian woke with a start at the commotion. He grabbed his knife, and looked around. Jesus christ, can't the guy have fun?
"Woah, woah. It's alright. It's just us, " Aaron lifted up his hands, non- threateningly. Ian relaxed and glared at him. Alrighty then. Kyle stood rubbing his ears.
" We need to devise a plan. " said Ian.

" Go ahead, ghandi. " replied Aaron.

" Why ghandi? " asked Kash.

Aaron rolled his eyes. They're all so stupid.

" Oh I don't know, maybe cause he was the smartest man of all time. " he cried, exasperated.

" That's Einstein, genius. "

" Einstein was the one that got independence from the British, stupid. "

Ian rolled his eyes. What's his problem?
Aaron looked at Ian.
" So what's your plan, ghandi? " he said, his nose upturned.

Ian decided to play along.

" Well, we have to go in. It's the only way to go. The entrance is sealed, and there isn't any light. We need to be careful, who knows what's in here. "

" Sounds fair enough. " agreed Kyle. Kash nodded her head in the dim light.
Of course. They all agree with him. Ugh. They tiptoed through the narrow dirt tunnel, their hands running along the edges. Ian went first, then Aaron, Kash and Kyle. They walked for what seemed like forever, when Ian stopped abruptly. Aaron stopped just in time, but Kash was caught off guard, and barged straight into Aaron. Like always.
"Sorry, " she muttered. Ian held up a hand to silence them. What is going on? Aaron looked over his shoulder, and saw a fork in the path. A faint rattling noise was coming from the path on the left.
" What is that? " whispered Aaron.

" I don't know. It's getting closer. We need to move. "
Ian jogged quickly into the path on the right, and was swallowed up by the darkness. Aaron followed suit, with the others close at heel. Kyle had barely entered the tunnel, when something huge exploded through the tunnel on the left. The dirt wall trembled, as the thing flew out. Aaron didn't even bother to look. He tried to grab Kash's hand, but she had bolted in front of him, and grabbed his hand. Alrighty then. She yanked him forward, and he gasped at her unbelievable speed. Who knew girls run so fast. Kyle ran at his heels, as Kash took the lead.
"I saw it, it's huge, " she yelled, trying to be heard over the sound of the creature turning into their tunnel and rushing forward.

" It's huge! It-it looks like a glob of slime with wheels. Run faster! " she  screamed. She was pulling hard at Aaron, and he did all he could to stop from falling. Kyle ran for his life, and slowly caught up to Ian. Kash took turn after turn, leading them through a labyrinth of tunnels. How does she know this? She didn't even pause to think, and bolted through. His lungs were burning, his feet slowed down. Kill me now. Aaron started to see a dim light ahead, as Kash ran through the tunnels. Is that..... a hole? As they weaved through the maze, the light got brighter. But the thing behind was getting closer. It's pincers were snapping, and he could hear it breaking through the tunnels blindly. Up ahead, Kash turned a final bend, and stopped. They all stopped just in time, their lungs burning, and feet aching with effort.
"Oh dam. " he heard Kyle whisper.

Aaron struggled to lift his head and gasped for all he was worth. Outside the gaping hole was a thousand foot drop, falling into God knew what, for the sheer drop was covered with clouds, blocking his view. But what took his breath away, were the enormous mountains. And they were floating. What in the name of the holy mother of fish!? He neared fainted from the shock. Floating mountains? A thousand feet in the air? But the shock was short lived. The creature behind them turned the last bend, and it saw them. It let out a shriek, and charged. This is it, we're cornered. I'll die fighting. He turned and hoped Ian had his weapons out. But he was still staring, dumbstruck at the mountains. Oh look, who's the hero now? Fear welled up in his throat as the thing blundered through the tunnel. Right before it's pincers could snap him in half, someone shoved him through the gaping hole. He screamed as he tumbled through the air, blinded by the whipping wind tearing at his skin. The clouds soon covered him up, and he caught a glimpse of the enormous floating mountains, and his friends jump through the hole.
