"A-Are you sure about this, Sam?" you asked the younger Winchester. Sam nodded, hardly glancing up from his computer. You wanted to groan. This was not what you had been expecting when the Winchesters called you in to help. It wasn't that you didn't like Dean as a person, but going undercover as a couple to find a cursed object wasn't exactly high on your list of things you wanted to do.

You and Dean were both stubborn to a fault. It caused you to butt heads quite often. In fact, the two of you spent a lot of time bickering back and forth whenever you worked with the brothers. Sam knew this. Honestly, you were certain the younger brother got a kick out of you and Dean's trivial arguments.

"Why can't you do it with me?" you asked Sam. He finally looked up from his computer and gave you a sheepish smile. "Because there will be a lot of older wealthy women there." You winced a little. For some reason, older women seemed to find Sam the more attractive of the two brothers. No matter where you went, they always seemed to hit on him. That left Dean, or in this case you and Dean, to the hunting while Sam distracted the others. "Fine, but I will not hesitate to shoot him if he bugs me." Sam's laughter followed you out of the motel room.

*short time skip*

You tried not to pull at the hem of your dress that felt much too short given who you were wearing it for. You shook your head. "Get a grip, Y/N. You're not wearing this dress for Dean. You're wearing it for the case." With a sigh, you checked your make-up once more before grabbing your belongings and heading for the room next door.

Your hand had barely brushed their door when it swung open. Sam was already dressed in a really nice tux. He smiled at you. "Lover Boy is almost ready. I'm going to get the car loaded down." Sam stepped aside to let you in. As soon as you crossed the threshold, their bathroom door opened and Dean came out.

Your mouth went dry almost instantly. It was the first time you'd seen him in something other than his usual plaid or his FBI suit. He looked...good. Shaking your head, you gave him a cheeky smirk. "I thought women were supposed to take forever to get ready. I was starting to think I'd be an old woman before you were ready." Dean gave you a look that said he wasn't impressed as he moved to help Sam load the car. "Let's get this over with," you muttered.

You and Dean bickered the entire way to the black-tie event. Literally the entire way. You couldn't seem to agree on the best way to handle the situation. You weren't full on arguing, but you weren't exactly being friendly either. You would have thought Sam would be annoyed by it. Quite the opposite. At one point, just before you reached your destination, Sam began laughing. You leaned forward from the back seat of Dean's precious car. "And just what are you laughing at, Winchester?"

"You two. God, it's nauseating. You're like an old married couple. Why can't you just admit you're into each other and get it over with." For a second, everything froze. Dean almost ran the car off the road. Then, you and Dean began denying Sam's accusation. Still, in the back of your mind, you couldn't help but wonder if he was right. Did you really feel something more than a hunter's relationship with Dean?

The thought nagged at you for the rest of the evening. You could hardly focus. Well, except for that one time when Dean pulled you extremely close to him in order to throw off suspicion. Your hands had rested on his chest and you couldn't help but let your mind wander. Hey, you were a woman that could appreciate a fine man like Dean Winchester, alright?!

Unfortunately, your lack of focus caused more arguments between you and the elder Winchester. It took you twice as long as it should have to find the object you were looking for. To say Dean was upset would have been an understatement. Still, you did your job and got out of there as quickly as possible. Now, you just wanted to get back to the motel, take a shower, and try not to think about how nice it felt being in Dean's arms. Man, Sam had really gotten into your head.

Dean's POV

Dean couldn't understand it. He wasn't mad. Not at you. He was mad at himself and a little at Sam. Dean knew how he felt about you. But hunters didn't get happy endings. They didn't get the apple pie life. So, he kept it to himself. Pushed the feelings down until he could hardly remember them. That is until Sam opened his big mouth. Now it was all Dean could think about.

Sam was right. The two of you were like an old married couple. You bickered, but there was never malice behind it. You didn't always agree, but you always made up in the end. You worked well together. Truly, Dean could see almost see a future with you if you weren't both hunters. Plus he had seen the way you looked at him when he held you that night. It was something he'd remember for a long time. That didn't stop him from continuing the argument you'd been having the entire way back to the motel though.

As soon as Dean parked the car, you were out of it. You headed to your room as quickly as possible. "Dean, stop being stupid. Go after her." Dean looked at Sam who rolled his eyes. "This may be your best opportunity for happiness, Dean. She knows the life. Don't miss your chance." Sam went into their room, leaving Dean standing at his car with a look of confusion.

A moment later, you appeared again. "Forgot my purse. Dean? You okay?" His green eyes met your (e/c) ones and something in him finally clicked. Without waiting a second longer, Dean wrapped one arm around your waist, pulling you to him and the other went to your cheek.

You stared at him with wide eyes. "De-"

"I wanna kiss you," he admitted, cutting you off. You looked almost comical in your surprise. That wasn't a shock to Dean. When people saw them, they always assumed he was the more aggressive of the two brothers. He didn't know about Sam, but Dean liked to take his time. He liked to show his lovers a proper amount of care and attention. And you? He was going to treat you like you were the most precious thing in the world if you'd let him.

So, he waited for you to process what he'd said. After what seemed like an eternity, your tongue darted out to lick your lips and you whispered, "Then do it." Dean didn't waste another second bringing your face closer to his so he could bring your lips together in a kiss that would be seared into his memory forever. When you pulled away, you were panting as a grin made its way to your face. "I-I liked that. I think you should do it again...maybe in my room?" Dean chuckled deeply before letting you go, only to take your hand and let you lead him to your room.
