Yuma awoke to a gentle hand shaking her shoulder.

"Yuma," Kakashi said softly, trying to rouse his little cousin. He'd take her out today, and she'd have a blast, he'd make sure of it. "Wake up."

Yuma stirred, cracking open one bleary eye. "What's up, Kashi?"

"We're going to have a fun day," Kakashi answered. "Come on, get dressed. Breakfast is almost ready."

"Kay," Yuma yawned, rubbing a fist against her eye.

Kakashi left the room and Yuma dressed in a purple sun dress, not forgetting her weapons and headband.

Kakashi was sipping coffee when Yuma trudged into the room and plopped down at the table.

"How are you feeling today?" He asked. "Any better?"

Yuma yawned, nodded. "Yup, bunches. Say, Kashi, whatcha drinkin'?"

"Coffee," Kakashi answered.

Yuma perked up and gave him the largest, most successful puppy dog eyes he's ever seen. "Can I have some?! I've always wondered what it tasted like!"

Kakashi pondered this a moment. Give the hyperactive child coffee and make her happy, or save his sanity.

With her short lifespan, he didn't have to heart to say no.

"Sure," he said, getting up and going to the coffee maker. He got down a mug and filled it halfway with coffee. "Do you want cream and sugar?"

"How do you drink it?" Yuma asked.

Surely he'd only drink it at its best.

"Black," he answered, motioning to the plain coffee.

Yuma picked up the coffee, blew on it, and took a cautious sip. "Bleh!" She stuck out her tongue in disgust and shoved the mug back at Kakashi. "Make it taste better, plez!"

Kakashi chuckled, then put in a couple of sugar cubes and milk.

"Oh!" Yuma said, watching as he stirred it. "It changed color!"

"Yup," Kakashi said, amused by her antics. "Now try."

Yuma picked up the mug then took a sip. Her face brightened considerably. "Yummy!"

Kakashi smiled as Yuma stared, in awe, at the coffee.

So I have got some family left, eh? He thought sadly. For a while, at least.

"Alright Yuma, what do you want to do?" Kakashi asked.

As Yuma looked around, Kakashi saw ANBU on the move. They'd inform everyone of Yuma's condition, and soon they'd all resent her and possibly abuse her. Kakashi knew he couldn't be stuck by her side all the time.

"I dunno, Kashi," Yuma shrugged.

"Yuma," Kakashi said suddenly. "You realize how important that you don't kill the villagers, right?"

Yuma nodded and smiled. "I promise, no matter what I'll keep them alive and well, except for the once on death row. Those are free game, right?"

"Right," Kakashi said, not relieved.

"Oh!" Yuma said suddenly. She darted forward.

"Yuma!" Kakashi called.

"Shika-kun!!!" Yuma cheered, jumping on the boy's back and making him stumble and fall.

"Oof! What a drag...." Shikamaru looked over his shoulder, unable to suppress a slight grin at the beaming girl's face. "Hey Yuma, what's up?"

"The sky!" She chirped.

"Of course."

"Hey there," a deep voice chuckled.

Yuma looked up to see an amused looking man with bluish hair and a cigarette.

She blinked. "Who are you?" She asked, tilting her head, still laying on Shikamaru, who didn't look too bothered by it.

"Asuma," Kakashi cut in, walking over and nodding at his friend.

"Ah, Kakashi, hey," Asuma grinned.

"Ohaio, Yuma-chan," Choji said, waving at Yuma, who grinned at him.

"Hey, Cho-kun!"

"What are you doing?" Ino demanded, extremely annoyed.

"I don't talk to meanies, so Nya!" Yuma replied, sticking her tongue out at Ino, who grew red with rage, but said nothing else.

"Hey, Yuma," Shikamaru cut in.

"Yeah?"

"As comfortable as the ground is, what with the rocks and dirt and all, could you let me up?"

"Oh!" Yuma giggled, rolling off and standing. "Sorry!"

"So, you're Yuma," Asuma grinned, holding out a hand. "Shikamaru's told us all about you." The dark haired sensei smirked teasingly at his student, who sported a small blush.

Yuma paid no attention, though. She simply stared at his hand in confusion.

"Whatcha doing?" She asked, poking his middle fingertip.

Asuma blinked. "It's a handshake."

"Er... A what?"

Shikamaru sighed, grabbing Yuma's wrist and placing her hand in Asuma's. "A handshake is something people do when the first meet, usually," he explained as Asuma shook her hand, trying to smother an amused grin.

"Oooooh, I get it!" Yuma said, nodding quickly.

"Do you really?" Shikamaru asked knowingly.

"Nope!"

"Idiot."

Yuma sobered and stared at Ino, who'd uttered the insult. Her stare was cold, calculating, and promised pain.

Everyone felt the atmosphere thicken substantially.

"Yuma," Kakashi said slowly.

"Have you got something to say, girly?" Yuma demanded slowly, releasing Asuma's hand to face the, now trembling, girl.

"N-No!" Ino squeaked.

"You called me an idiot," Yuma corrected. "Of course you'd know all you need to know, wouldn't you? I imagine you've had a pleasant life, plenty of food, shelter, love. Eh? Some aren't that lucky. You want to call me an idiot again, girl, and see where that get ya?"

Yuma stared Ino down, and the blonde girl shrunk away.

Suddenly, Shikamaru thumped Yuma upside the head. "Troublesome girl," he smirked, the only one amused. "Calm down."

"Nya! That hurt Shika!" Yuma whined.

"Really?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Nope!"

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

"Perfect for each other," Choji snickered, causing Asuma to grin, Kakashi to smirk, and Shikamaru to cast back a half hearted glare, blushing a bit.

"What's he mean?" Yuma asked cluelessly.

"Nothing," Shikamaru said before anyone else could answer.

"Oh, Kay!"
