"I'm sorry Grampa," Yuma apologized, standing before the Hokage and tracing circles in the floor with her shoe. "He made me angry..."
The Hokage gave the girl a long, quiet look, before sighing.
"Yuma..."
"It's quite alright," the Kazekage cut in coolly. "Jugu often worked up his opponents, and seems to have finally pushed one too far. Furthermore, death is to be expected in the chunnin exams, and your shinobi was much strong than mine." His eyes were taking over every bit of Yuma excitedly. "I dare say that match was one of the most satisfying I've seen yet."
The Hokage regarded the dark eyed Kage almost warily, but instead sighed and set his hand on the nervous child's head. "Just try to be more careful, alright, dear?"
Yuma nodded, smiling sheepishly and opening her thin arms.
Chuckling, the Hokage embraced the tiny girl, enveloping her in his arms and hiding her from the world for just a moment.
"I love you, Grampa," her small voice whispered to him. He felt his lips spread into a loving smile.
"I love you too, Yuma," he muttered before pulling back and ruffling her charcoal hair. "Now, why don't you let the medics finally attend to you, you stubborn, silly girl."
She giggled innocently, and nodded, skipping off the the frantic medics.
Oh god, if they didn't patch her up, and she were to die, they'd have not only Kakashi's rage to worry about, the Hokage's, the Nara's, and a bunch of prepubescent teens'!
Once she had gone, the Hokage turned to the Kazekage, speaking in a forced polite tone. "You seem to have taken quite an interest in our Yuma, my friend."
The Kazekage chuckled, and icy, chilling sound. "Can I be blamed? She is an extraordinary child, no one can deny that. She is known far and wide- the royalty and business men and women did not just come to see Sasuke Uchiha."
The Hokage kept his measured gaze for a moment, before laughing jovially. "I suppose you are right! My apologies, Yuma is just very dear to the village and many in it."
Meanwhile, Yuma was giving the medical shinobi the bewilderment of a lifetime. They couldn't understand how someone- a child, no less- could take the beating she did and manage to act so casual about it.
"Yuma!"
The rust eyed girl turned around just in time to be run into by a lean body, as strong arms wrapped around her, holding her close. She felt familiar fishnet pressing against her nose, and giggled.
"Shika?"
He pulled away, holding her at arms length as his eyes raked over her injured body.
"Oh, god. You're bleeding so much! What hurts?" His eyes snapped to hers when she giggled again, and he relaxed slightly as he saw no agony within her cheerful orbs, only happiness at seeing him.
He sighed heavily as the medic nin continued to treat the girl.
"Troublesome girl, letting that idiot beat on you like that, what were you thinking?"
Her gaze fell, and for a moment, Shikamaru thought he saw fear in her eyes, but it had gone faster than it'd appeared.
"I'm fine, Shika," she smiled radiantly up at him. "I promise."
He huffed wearily, shoulders drooping. "Tch... what a drag..."
"Yuma."
"Kashi! You're back!" Yuma chirped, turning to Kakashi, who scooped her up, away from the ruffled medic nin, into his arms in a hug.
"You had me worried, silly girl," he whispered softly, holding her securely as her arms wound around his neck.
"I'm fine," she giggled.
"Yuma-chan!" Multiple other voices chorused, and Kakashi set her down just in time for her to be engulfed by two pairs of arms as her vision was overtaken by pink and yellow.
"Hey guys!" Yuma chirped, returning the hug as years rushed down two of her teammates' cheeks.
"We were so worried!" Naruto sobbed, hiding his face in her shoulder.
"Be more careful!" Sakura sniffled, reprimanding the reckless girl half-heartedly.
"You two are smothering her, back off," Sasuke ordered from the sidelines, smirking arrogantly at his bloodied teammate as she was released. "You look like hell, freak."
Beaming, she opened her arms to his, making him till his eyes, walking over and allowing to wrap her arms around his torso. He removed a hand from his pocket to pat her head patronizingly.
"Be careful, butthead, don't make me have to save you," Yuma giggled.
"Heh, not even in your dreams," the duck haired boy replied, gently pulling away from her as Choji and Ino approached her next.
The Uchiha addressed the nurses waiting at the sidelines, looking fairly miffed. "She'd better be fully healed by the end of my match, or you'll have me to worry about. And I don't intend to take long."
This caused many of the nurses to releases weary breathes. Didn't this beat know how difficult it was to heal someone who's friends continued to distracted from their care? Obviously not.
Kakashi watched the scene with a smile. He could remember when many of the children now worrying over and embracing Yuma couldn't stand her. There was just something about her, some kind of charm that continues to draw people in despite her sadistic and frightening tendencies.
She's an incredible girl, and would surely turn into one of the most powerful and dedicated shinobi in the village. He was sure if it.
"Kakashi," the Third called, drawing the content sensei's attention. "Its about time for Sasuke's match. I think we've kept these good people waiting long enough."
"Of course, sir," the Copy Nin bowed. "Sasuke, let's go."
The raven haired boy straightened, nodding.
"Good luck, butthead!" Yuma chirped as the nurses shoved away her friends and began frantically trying to finish their work. The last thing they needed was an Uchiha on their tails.
Her cocky teammate smirked. "Don't need it, freak."
