BOOM!
Yuma turned to the explosion fast enough to give anyone else whiplash, leapt to the roofing over the area seats to see gigantic snakes trashing the village.
She cursed- what good would it do to try and evacuate the civilian if those giant legless lizards were going wreak havoc out there and kill them anyway?
She ensured that the situation below was handled before beginning to make her way towards the new danger.
"Yuma!"
She turned, seeing Gai and Kakashi locked in one sided battles.
"Come back in one piece!" Kakashi finished, incapacitating another enemy.
Smirking, the charcoal haired girl nodded. Then, she was off.
Leaping from rooftop to rooftop, and battling random enemy shinobi along the way, it took her about a half hour to reach her target. In that time, there was another creature now awaiting.
"A giant tadpole?!" She exclaimed in disbelief, a shout that did not go unheard by the mentioned 'tadpole'.
"What?! You dare call the great Gamabunta a tadpole?! Why, if Jiraiya wasn't my scroll holder, I'd..."
What he was blathering on about, Yuma hadnt a clue.
"Jiraiya? Hm..." she muttered, wracking her brain for where she'd heard the name.
"Who you ranting at?" A somewhat weary voice hollered, from atop the grumpy tadpole, sending an idea into Yuma's odd little brain.
"Huh?! Some weird little snot who think that I- hey! GET OFF MY HEAD!"
Yuma stomped her foot to teach the tadpole some manners, didn't he know it was rude to try and throw off the person standing on you?
Huh, weird.
Gamabunta bit his tongue in pain at the significantly smaller being's actions- how could such a scrawny little runt be so strong?
"You?!" The white haired man gawked, pointing frantically at the familiar child. "What're you doing here?!"
"Oh, I know you!" She said as her epiphany struck. "You came with Grampa to the Asilium once! Did your hair ever grow back?"
"Obviously," the now grumpy old man mumbled. How did she even get fireworks in there?! "Hey, watch it!" He tried to warn as one of the snakes lunged, going to devour her and only her from the top Gamabunta's head. Luckily and surprisingly, the giant toad saved her, seizing the snake by its scaly, muscular body and holding it down.
"Got it!" The rusty eyed girl called, jumping to the restrained snake's head instead and, much to the horror of both Gamabunta and Jiraiya alike, making her way to the mouth, where its nightmarish fangs protruded.
"Are you crazy, brat?!" Jiraiya bellowed, ready to hop down after her as she placed her hand on a single glistening fang, only stopping to stare in awe as she pulled on the bone, breaking it loose and coaxing a cry of agony from the serpent. Then, scrambling up its nose, she plunged the tooth down a ways with her own strength, into the top of the skull, causing the snake more pain as she turned and lifted her arms childishly to the giant tadpole, flexing her fingers at him in a beckoning manner. The sight would have been adorable if not for the horrifying amount of blood already decorating her body from her past encounters.
Naturally, none of it was hers.
"Can you help me up, Gama-kun?" She asked sweetly, large rust colored eyes shining at the weirded out and oddly entranced frog.
This little snot wasn't like any other brat he'd met before...
Sighing wearily at his own leniency toward the bloodthirsty child, his tongue rolled out for her to climb on, giggling and smiling as the squishy, pierced muscle lifted her up.
The snake continued to struggle in vain as the charcoal haired girl called for her transportation to halt, and peered over the edge at the serpent, smiling sweetly and waving cheerfully.
It knew it's time was over when she jumped, and knew that no amount of struggling would save it from the sadistic clutches of the girl and what she had planned.
It was right.
Yuma landed on the upright fang, causing it to shoot down, shattering the legless lizard's skull and piercing its brain. Causing thus a large fountain of blood, which pushed the fang and girl up and high into the air, where the unexpected happened.
NOM!
A second, avenging snake shot through the air, closing its jaws around Yuma's person.
"No!" Jiraiya yelled, reaching a hand out as though that could pry open the jaws of the giant serpent and save the brave- or stupid, he hadn't decided yet- girl. "Gamabunta, we-"
"Wait," the toad cut him off. "Watch."
Jiraiya blinked at the oddly calm King Toad, but did as told and locked his concerned gaze onto the snake now slithering away, satisfied and not even acknowledging Gamabunta as a worthy opponent, which no doubt irked the overgrown amphibian, only drawing more curiousity to the latter's calm demeanor.
The serpent suddenly halted, and began jerking and shaking, roaring in agony as it began slamming its head into the ground and the walls surrounding the village.
Another fountain of blood shot a small body into the air through the back of the snake's head.
Tongue whipping out, Gamabunta caught the airborne child as the corpse of the enemy snake collapsed, done for.
Yuma giggled as Gamabunta released her atop his head, and laid on her belly with her arms spread in a hug. "Thanks Gama-kun!"
"Yeah, yeah, you rotten brat..."
"Are you crazy?!" Jiraiya ranted, picking the girl up the shake her by her shoulders as she continued to giggle.
"If I wasn't there's no way that would have worked!" She replied nonchalantly.
Sighing, Jiraiya let her fall back and lay down, sure she was exhausted.
"So, the old man actually got you out, huh," he sighed as Gamabunta continued to battle. She turned her head to gaze at him, and he smiled at her. "Village treating you alright?"
The smirk on her lips was one of genuine amusement. "The villagers hate me, cause I'm a monster," she began, making him sigh. "But, I've found family here."
Jiraiya smiled at that, almost forgetting the circumstances on which they'd re-met.
Her instincts turned her head for her, and Yuma felt a sense of foreboding as she gazed at the large purple force-feild type box atop a building not too far away.
"Keep an eye on Naruto for me," Yuma requested quietly, rising to her feet.
"What are you-"
She rushed forward, wrapping her arms tightly around his stomach, surprising him.
"Promise me," she ordered.
He placed his hand on her head. "Alright, I promise, but why?"
But she was already gone.
