The next morning, Kakashi almost didn't want to send Yuma to school, afraid she'd be emotionally unstable after the night before. However, when he roused her, she acted as though she didn't even remember what had happened. And Kakashi wasn't quick to bring it up, either.

No, he left well enough alone and simply ruffled her hair when the tired girl beamed up at him. He liked the mornings, it was the time of day when her violent and sadistic side seemed too tired to make its appearance.

Yuma dressed in an outfit Kakashi had gotten her a few days ago, a black spaghetti strap sundress with a red rose design over her heart. She pulled leggings on under it and pulled on her sandals before going down to the kitchen, saying a farewell to Kakashi, and rushing to the academy.

"Shika-kun!" Yuma yelled happily, flinging open the classroom door and flying at the unsuspecting boy's back. He barely caught her piggyback style as he stumbled forward.

"Ohaio, Yuma," he chuckled softly, looking over his shoulder at her grinning face as all the other students watched in tense shock. "OI, what happened to your cheek?"

He watched as her expression turned lethal for a moment before softening.

"A meany came after me last night, Shika-kun, but don't worry, I took care of it," she said with a mischievous grin.

Shikamaru wondered briefly what 'took care of it' meant exactly, but then remembered who Yuma was, and dropped it.

"Hey, Yuma, this is my best friend, Choji," he introduced, gesturing to a rather larger boy with red swirls upon his cheeks who ate from a bag of chips, regarding the girl on Shikamaru's back with a curious and tense expression.

"Konichiwa, Choji!" Yuma chirped.

"Ah, konichiwa, Yuma-chan," Choji mumbled with a nervous smile.

As the three chattered, Iruka would come in, call a name, leave with the student, and then repeat the process.

"Yuma Vex," he called at last, after all the other students had already taken the exam. Yuma rose, then went with him to another class room, where Mizuki, another sensei, waited. "Alright Yuma, you just need to make three functioning clones."

Yuma nodded, did the handsigns, and heard three poofs. Beside her stood three clones, all looking perfect.

"Excellent!" Iruka said happily as Mizuki nodded, smiling in approval.

"Come get a headband," Mizuki invited. And Yuma did, running forward and grabbing a black one before rushing outside to show Shikamaru.

However, when she got there, Shikamaru was being praised by his mother and father. Yuma did not want him to be in trouble for befriending a monster like her, so she prepared for the long, lonely walk home.

That is, until she saw a certain blonde sitting in a swing, all alone, watching the other children and their families.

"Oi, Naruto, right?" She asked, walking up to the boy. He gazed glumly at her before nodding. "No family either?"

"They died when I was born," he said, looking down.

"I killed mine," Yuma said casually as she sat on the ground beside his swing.

He stared at her in shock. "Eh?! Why?!"

"Family issues," she shrugged. "It's no big deal. They weren't really good parents to begin with. So how'd you exam go?"

"I... Didn't pass..." Naruto mumbled expecting her to laugh at him.

"So? There's always next time, right?" Yuma said. "I'll tell you what, just let me know when your next exam is, kay? And I'll come and wait for you to show me your headband, deal?"

She stood, holding her hand out to Naruto, who looked stunned.

"R-Really?" He asked.

"Yeah, sure," Yuma grinned. "Shake my hand and it'll be official."

Naruto enthusiastically shook her hand. "Deal!"
