Any grounded shinobi to glance up would see only a charcoal grey blur, and enemy bodies that would fall to the ground seconds after the blur passed. A select few were able to distinguish the blur aiding them as Yuma, but many were left to wonder what it was, where it was going.

Yuma was rushing towards the purple force field that struck worry into her heart. She'd notice it almost immediately when it had went up, but the villagers and other civilians took priority then.

Now, however, it was taking all she had not to destroy everything in her path to reach it, and she resorted to taking her desperation out on any enemy shinobi that was unfortunate enough to even make it into her span of vision.

Her grandpa was in trouble, she could feel it. Not in the air, not in the atmosphere, but in her heart.

Meanwhile, the climax of the battle between Orochimaru and the Hokage was drawing quickly near. The two were standing a ways from one another, planning their next moves.

"She will be mine," Orochimaru hissed, lips spread in a wide, chilling grin.

"She is a loyal shinobi of Konaha," the Third shot back. "She will never lower herself to join the likes of you."

"How cold, sensei," the snake man mocked. "To say such a thing about your former student."

"You are not the boy I taught and cared for all those years ago," Sarutobi spat, disgusted by what his student had become. "You are vile and horrible, you tear families apart, you are everything that Yuma isn't and that is why you will leave without her today, dead or alive."

"And where was this speech when it was Sasuke-kun, hm?" The Sannin smirked wickedly. "Picking favorites, are we? Though I don't blame you. Yuma is much stronger and more valuable."

The Third paid no mind to the taunts directed at him, he would not lose focus. He knew how he would finish this. He just hoped that she would forgive him, for leaving her behind.

"Enough of these games," he demanded. "Let's finish this."

"Indeed, let's," orochimaru agreed eagerly.

Both took their stances as Yuma arrived. She couldn't hear anything, not a word either was saying. She didn't not recognise the man/woman currently battling her dear grandpa. She didn't care about such minor details, she just had to find a way through the barrier so she could assist the man who had allowed her a life, shown her to her family, become a part of that family.

"Let me through!" She shouted at one of the four inside the barrier, holding it strong. He smirked at her, offering a mocking shake of his two heads to goad the girl.

Her jaw set in anger, and her fingers yearned to wrap around both the boy's throats, tightening until the life drained from all four of his eyes.

She retrieved a kunai, throwing it at the barrier to test its strength. It bounced back, small volts of electricity trailing after it, and landed at her feet.

Aggravated and frantic to reach the man that held a dear place in her heart, she lunged forward with reckless abandon.

Her fist connected with the barrier, and the stench of burned flesh filled her nostrils as she released a cry of pain, much to the amusement of the boy within. Still, she didn't relent, striking with her other hand, giving the first a break, only to find the same result.

Do you know the definition of insanity? Insanity is to repeat the exact same action over, and over, and over again, and expecting a different result each time.

At that point in time, anyone could have confirmed that Yuma Vex, was the very definition of insanity. Each strike was more frantic than the last, until her hands were scorched, useless. Then, she resorted to kicking. She didn't stop, she never let up. Not when Anbu appeared, not when they tried to help, not when they tried to stop her when they found the efforts useless.

She hated it. Without the Akumuchi, she was weak. Weak. Weak.

Worthless.

Soon, her legs were barely able to hold her. She paused, taking a breath as her eyes darted about in hopes of finding her grandfather.

The Akumuchi... it was just... suppressed within her body... right?

So... she could get it back... right? Or in the best case scenario, just draw in its power.

Her lids slid over her rust colored orbs, and she released a breath through her nose.

Her eyes reopened, and rather than seeing that forsaken purple barrier, she stood before huge gates.

A dark chuckle floated through the air.

"What do you want, girl?" A familiar voice questioned, and Yuma looked up as glowing red eyes became visible through the bars. Humongous, scaly steel grey hands clasped the bars, and the Akumuchi's lips curled back into a chilling grin.

"I want your power," Yuma demanded.

The laugh she got in return nearly deafened her, but she stood her ground.

"And why should I do that?" The Akumuchi inquired tauntingly. "You didnt seem to want my power, last I checked."

What the- Really?! Yuma didn't have time for this! She had to save her Grampa!

"Listen here, you Angel reject," Yuma spat lividly, stomping through the bars and shocking the demon with her boldness. "My family is in trouble. I don't have time to stand here and listen to you bitch and whine like a little girl. Now you can either work with me, and gain some sort of freedom, or you can rot behind these bars like the beast you are! DO YOU HEAR ME?!"

The demon stared at the odd child with an unreadable expression, taking in her wounds and the fierce fire lit in her eyes.

Could it be?

"I've actually found a vessel worthy of harnessing my power?" The Akumuchi snorted, disbelieving.

What a fascinating turn of events.

"Alright," he finally answered, making Yuma beam at him. "Consider this a partnership, then, brat."

Yuma nodded swiftly, and closed her eyes as power surged through her.
