Max's P.O.V
"Do you have anything to say about yourself?"
Xavier asks in a chilling voice. I remain silent.
"I'll get to the point. You're not worthy of Selena."
I blink.
"What?"
I can't hide my dumbfounded expression.
"To put it simple. Back. Off."
Xavier says through gritted teeth.
"Are you serious?"
I ask incredulously.
"Dead serious."
He says with a straight face. Choking down my fear, I bravely respond.
"I can't."
I say.
"Why not?"
Xavier says with a smile, that's not really a smile.
"Friends don't abandon one another."
I say firmly.
"Are you sure you don't want anything else?"
Xavier asks.
"Maybe I want to be something more.... But I should at least get a chance! I'm Lena's first friend!"
"Lies!"
Xavier spat.
"I'm her first friend."
I scoff at Xavier's reply.
"You're nothing but her brother! No, not even her brother! Do you know her favorite color? What food she hates? Do you even know her middle name?!"
(A/N: In case you're wondering, Selena doesn't actually have a middle name.)
Xavier stays quiet.
"That's what I thought! You can fire me, but I believe that Lena and I are destined for each other!"
I storm out of the room and drive home.

The next morning I come to work as usual.
Nothing seems off. Well, except for the fact the Xavier apologised for being a bad boss.
I decide to talk to Selena when we're both in the secretary room.
"Lena, would you like to meet up at a restaurant? My treat. Well, unless you want to eat at a expensive restaurant. Then you'll have to pay."
We both laugh.
"I'll tell you the location later then."
Selena says.
I am extremely ecstatic! My happiness decreased once we get to the restaurant and I realise that someone had been listening to Lena and I's conversation from outside the door that lead to the CEO's office.
"How are you, Ceil?"
This was not supposed to be a dinner for three!!!
