System: Seduce The Villainess

ARC 3.14

Max's P.O.V

"Hello, sir."

I say with a fake smile.

"Please, out of work, you can call me Xavier."

He says with something that looks like a smile, but an extremely awkward one.

"I don't think I can do that."

"I insist."

"I'm fine."

"No, you're not."

"I really am."

"Let's just get the table!"

Selena cuts into my debate with Xavier.

A staff member leads us into the V.I.P room.

"I take it boss is paying the bill?"

I ask in a sly tone. Selena giggles a looks at Xavier. He reluctantly nodded.

You are a CEO! Why are you so cheap?!?

We are about to arrive at our table but Xavier intervenes.

"We would like that booth."

He says while pointing to a booth. When we get there I realise what his goal is. The booth we're in is the kind that only has two sides, so Xavier sat with Selena so they can talk and it would make me feel left out. On top of that, since Selena and Xavier have been here many times before, they were ready to order while I was looking over the menu.

That sly #######.

(A/N: Ahem!)

Xavier engages in conversation with Selena that happens to involve their past together. So of course, I had nothing to talk about.

"Max actually taught me how to swim."

"Did he now?"

Selena mentions the day at the pool after he brings up how she nearly drowned while trying to swim with him at the estates pond.

This guy is anti-social! Never bring up Selena's past failures if you want to live.

How do I know this? I can tell by the way Selena's smile faltered.

We end up talking and Xavier becomes the third wheel.

Finally, the awkward dinner for three comes to an end.

I don't forget to talk to Selena though.

"Remember, one month!"

I remind her.

One month should give me enough time to figure out how to confess to Lena.
